I dig the quick and dirty track Clay posted yesterday from The Real Losers. Good and raw. It reminds me of a knockout Kafka saying (for the original quotation replace "listen to" with "read" and "records" for "books"), "I think we ought to listen to only the kind of records that wound and stab us. If the record we are listening to doesn't wake us up with a blow on the head, what are we listenin...

from now on, i won't necessarily associate the words 'marching band' with that awkward first year in high school... and to mark ONE WEEK until sigur ros live at beneroya hall...sigur ros rides bikes in montreal!

This indie rock band from Sweden's debut album, which is out today, highlights the band's one-of-a-kind indie pop sound. With their first single already in regular rotation on KCRW and production by Adam Lasus (Yo La Tengo, CYHSY), you might find your summer jam with them. More solid Swedish pop! They just released the video for Makeup Artist too. Marching Band "Makeup Artist" (mp3) from "Spark L

Another day, another Swedish band making really good music. I think if I ever have kids I will send them to Stockholm for their formative years...hoping that some of that Swedish water will get their inner rock stars swirling! Marching Band's album 'Spark Large' is light, infectious pop at it's heart, but with introspective and smart lyrics. Great stuff. Marching Band - 'Letters' MP3 ~~

Marching Band - "Make Up Artist"

--- - |- A friend recently turned me on to Marching Band , an indie-pop duo from Sweden, whose album, Spark Large , is one of the most consistently enjoyable albums I've heard all year, filled with great melodies, strong songs and a really warm and accessible heart. I'm not going as far as to call it soulful, but there's a spark here. - Marching Band

--- - |- seems we can hardly sit or step these days without tripping on some fast rising swedish act or another. like, for instance, the rock & pop duo marching band, whose debut lp, spark large, and in particular the first single "gorgeous behavior," has been receiving attention from, among others, taste-maker nic harcourt and kcrw. and not without good reason, of course. the album, as you'll...

Who : Marching Band from Sweden. What : To follow up my previous note on this band, it seems as if Erik and Jacob have been really busy with their new record. Since Spark Large was released by U&L Records in August, the band have had reviews in Rolling Stone, a KCRW session with Nic Harcourt, [...]

Just Listen: Put on a little make-up

This was one of those cases when a "meh" artist, turns into a "great" one over the course of a little time, and it's a shame that I didn't see it earlier. In fact, I didn't see all that much in Marching Band (Indie Rock group from Sweden) at first, but with time I've come to adore their stuff. They give us catchy pop/rock vocal melodies, beats that convince your feet to move and a heartfelt war...

... right?Well, I am about to find out. I joined a website a few weeks ago that allows foreign travelers to contact me with the intent of staying at my apartment for a couple of days as they explore San Francisco. I know. As I wrote that sentence I found myself thinking, ummmmmm. In my defense, the website is fairly well-known among budget travelers. And I have 2 acquaintances that have used it ...
