TOKIMA TOKIO has been seen around these parts before. He drops in with a brilliant new track every few months, and leaves us wanting more. This time he's sent over a remix of Major Lazer's "Keep It Goin' Louder" that has really brightened my day. It's a feel good electro-pop remix, and is very reminiscent of his Digitalism remix, in the best way possible. I would say that the synth that goes th...

We hate to really say something like this, but it seems like, as of late at least, that the first two singles from the Diplo/Switch zombie reggae dancehall moniker Major Lazer, "Hold The Line" and "Pon De Floor" have become...

Here's a wonky-as-fuck remix entry from the boys in Mexicans With Guns, for their hopeful quest to win the contest run by Diplo and Switch aka Major Lazer for "Pon De Floor". It's hard on the outside to the poke...

Driving through the desert in Kazakhstan a few weeks back, a mix from Australian R!M!E came on as part of our Mixtape Marathon. Needless to say it smashed it and we were nodding our heads hard all through the dirt tracks, potholes and endless horizons until it was over.So after the trip is over, I’m [...]

[Inertia: 2009]Upon first listen, Guns Don’t Kill People scared the shit out of me. It sounds as if Electro, Reggae and Dancehall got together at a rave one night and ended up going back to the future to have some kind of marijuana-fuelled three-way. As much as that concept makes me quake with fright, I have to admit that it also kind of makes me more than a little bit enlivened. The mastermin.

It's bad enough that Major Lazer, Jamaican commando lost his arm to zombies but he is constantly besieged by monsters and vampires. Of course during his downtime the Major is chief hedonist in the land. Not only does he get the bikini, booty babes and party like Led Zeppelin in 1976 but he throws down some mean dancehall tunes to boot. Who lives like that?Read the full review at What's On The H...

Major LazerGuns Don’t Kill People…Lazers DoDowntown Recordsout June 16th[76][Rating Scale]7.6 out of 10 starsThe opening notes of Major Lazer’s debut album evoke an old Western movie, counterparts riding toward each other, gritty and determined looks on their faces, horse hooves scraping the dusty ground, tumbleweeds blowing across the barren landscape. The next 41 minutes [...]

A made-up musical identity, fronted by animated character with a ridiculous backstory, that boldly mashes genres to an extremely danceable effect... no it’s not Gorillaz, but the new album from fidgety superduo Major Lazer.

I wrote off Major Lazer pretty early. In case you haven't heard, Major Lazer is the project undertaken by Diplo and Switch which relies heavily on reggae and dancehall influences. It also centers around a fictional main character who, from what I can tell by listening to the album, shoots things with his gun-arm and gets bitches in the process. Or something to that effect. Call me a video game ...

I would want to step into the mind of Eric Wareheim just to see what the fuck is going on in there but I am afraid I would like it to much and never want to leave. But really what the fuck IS going on in there? I try to keep up to date on all of my Tim and Eric news but Eric directed a video for THE Depeche Modem, that came out a couple of months ago, check it out after the break.

Major Lazer - "Hold The Line" ft. Mr. Lexx and Santigold So, this is what I happened upon while making my daily rounds for anything sonicly new and interesting. I'm seriously geeked right now, cuz I've been suffering a musical drought for the last few months, and this album is pouring down the rain on my head. It's a fucking tsunami! Don't know a whole lot about this Major Lazer collective. ...
