Well folks, been out of the loop for a few days. We had family visiting through Friday morning, and then spent the weekend with my daughter and her family. Nice to get out of town and travel around a bit. Don't know how to catch up on 300+ trusted emails - I'm already suffering guilt-delete pangs. My daughter lives in a lake community about 4 miles outside of Eaton, Ohio called Lakengren. This p...
Catchy and simple, "Kids" from MGMT's new Oracular Spectacular is a deviously danceable delight.*note* rhapsody is trying to get its sticky fingers on my upload...you may have to look in the comment section for the free stream...*update* nevermind..the red button seems to be working ok....
Perhaps the most interesting music made in the U.S.A. today comes from the Brooklyn School, where several bands have emerged in the last year with eclectic, interesting, music. Yeasayer is doing a proper tour in Holland with multiple dates, and Vampire Weekend came by a few weeks ago, getting a decent amount of press, which is surprising, because normally indie bands don’t get press. Indeed, th.
MGMT finally produced an official video for Kids (a little bit late in my opinion). But the video has great make-up and costumes with some great dark humor, so check it out.- Albert
This new video is on the most played list on Google Video today. If you haven't listened to the MGMT album in full you are missing some great original content this summer.
MGMT, live @ Technopolis, Athens.MGMT has been one of the biggest sensations of 2008, with their major-label debut "Oracular Spectacular" finding its way in all the respectable end of the year "Best Of" lists and their singles "Kids" and "Time to pretend", getting non-stop airplay everywhere. While the recording of their next album "Congratulations" is underway, the band hit the road for a few
We like to watch you laughing Picking' insects off plants no time to think of consequences If you haven't heard of the New York-based music group MGMT then you are missing out on a lot. I never saw them as the hipster/scenester type, which is what some people have described them as. However, MGMT's brand of indie rock is so people-friendly and easily likeable that I don't even know how the afo...
While we eagerly await the Soulwax remix of the track "Kids" by NYC duo MGMT, this edit is bound to hold us over until the Belgian brothers finish their remix. Tronik Youth shreds the original with some added drums/swooshes/effects and then chops up the rest. MGMT - Kids (Tronik Youth Shr-edit) (YSI) MGMT - Kids (Tronik Youth [...]~~
Nothing makes me happier than seeing people dress up in monster costumes. In MGMT's new video for "Kids" off last year's breakout debut Oracular Spectacular, the band unleashes plenty. Unfortunately for the four-year-old child in the video, the monsters predominantly appear at his expense. At least he gets to wear an MGMT headband. It's also worth mentioning that the quote from the opening sequ...
I've been waiting for this video, and man, the poor kid in this video is probably scarred for life. Lots of cool scary monsters. Such a great song. Make sure you watch the animation at the end of the video. Lots of fun, trippy cell animation.--------------------------------------------------------Visit the MaxBumps.net Forum to discuss The Sixty One Artists and other hot topics with other liste...
Unable to spend Thanksgiving back home in the states, MGMT decided to spread their own bit of Thanksgiving cheer on Le Grand Jounral in Paris. Check it out below.
I think the number of people who haven't heard this song is only slightly more than the number of people who are Drew Carey. That is just to say, I know that maybe some people are getting sick of this song/band, but this video completely blew my mind. It is up there in my mind with Grizzly Bear's "Two Weeks" video for creepiest/awesomest video of the year. WATCH IT.
“He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster … and if you gaze for long into an abyss, the abyss gazes also into you.”You may recognize these words from the great American novelist Mark Twain, or you may have just seen the quote scribbled on the opening frames of [...]
