Hello all - sorry it's been so long between PSA posts, but it's tough sometimes to find good stuff. This week, there's lots of it. :) (Disclaimer: I'm not affiliated with any of these companies, I'm just encouraging people to get out and buy the music of the artists that they love!) Best Buy: $7.99 CDs - Tokio Hotel Scream, The Last Shadow Puppets The Age Of The Understatement, Lyrics Born Everywhere At Once, From First To Last, The Weepies Hideaway, Tokyo Police Club ... MORE

This song makes you want to get up and dance. Kind of reminds me of Prince a little...really funky stuff!

Well this has been an interesting week/weekend. Not only is my mom depressed but it turns out my dad is too. She told me he asked her for a divorce on monday. I can't help but contemplate the tenderness of the adolesence I've been clinging onto. Goodbye youth. The thread was continuosly tugged on, I couldn't help but pick at it, and so the blankey of childhood is nothing more then shreds. A few scraps of random memories. I feel like i never even experienced it the sweet... MORE

I was able to download MGMT 's Electric Feel interactive video and it's pretty cool I must say. Oh, and clever for ever coming up with something like that! The video is in .mov format and I actually thought that it was gonna be a flash video because of the whole interactive thing. But anyways, here's a video of someone playing with MGMT 's Electric Feel interactive video. :) And here's where I got the video:

Alright, who's got their 3D glasses ready? If you don't already have your own pair, you're going to miss out on the wicked new vids coming out these days. Missy Elliot's "Ching A Ling," this new 3D version of MGMT 's "Time To Pretend" and Bjork's upcoming "Wanderlust" - all in 3 dimensions!!! Check out the new MGMT vid: Pretty cool, eh? I don't usually like this type of music, but I love the lyrics in this song. This might be my mantra for 2008!... MORE

SXSW has 1700+ bands this year. So this list doesn't include even 10 percent of what I liked and doesn't even begin to harp on the hand-full of bands that disappointed. Regardless, it's a good taco-sized summary of the cornucopia of music at SXSW this yr.
BANDS WORTH THE HYPE
MGMT . My new saints of sound. Little kids who cultivate a lot of sound. It kinda sucks that I know have to share my fondness of their music with the whole freaking nation. Regardless, I ... MORE

Andrew VanWyngarden said that perhaps playing Letterman in January was too early for them, and playing Jools Holland's BBC show maybe was a bit early as well. However, those two shows are big in the States and UK respectively, and they've only added to the ever growing fanbase of the Brooklyn band MGMT . They are moving fast. And so surely, when a ticket is 7.50 euro, you have to go to one of the hottest new bands. In the sold out small hall of Paradiso the young lads... MORE

MGMT "Oracular Spectacular"
Roxy S.
6 out of 10 Supermodels? Bring 'em on. Drugs? Why not. Fast cars? Pile 'em high. No, this isn't a page torn from VICE Magazine. It’s more like an MGMT song. As I listened to the electro-pop duo's debut, I wondered just what you crazy kids have been up to with your damn technology. Since when did it become "cool" to sound like the Bee Gees? What is this new genre that's erupted, fueled by keyboards and disco-inspired beats... MORE

Perhaps the most interesting music made in the U.S.A. today comes from the Brooklyn School, where several bands have emerged in the last year with eclectic, interesting, music. Yeasayer is doing a proper tour in Holland with multiple dates, and Vampire Weekend came by a few weeks ago, getting a decent amount of press, which is surprising, because normally indie bands don’t get press. Indeed, those two bands seem to be the flag bearers of the Brooklyn School at the moment.

MGMT , pronounced management formed while studying music at Connecticut's Wesleyan University. Now based in Brooklyn, the duo, Andrew VanWyngarden and Ben Goldwasser, make acid-washed rock that has the pair running through the savannah like a pack of wild aborigines, while singing of cocaine and heroin binges, on the track "Time To Pretend." The track is of the duo's debut Oracular Spectacular.... MORE

The fact that MGMT can pull this lyric off, says all you need to know...this disc is a party waiting to happen...spin it, and get out of the way...good times ahead.

Anything that producer Dave Fridmann is involved in is worth a listen, and so here you go, a track off MGMT 's debut, Oracular Spectacular, that is Mogger szanujzielen's favorite.

First — for those of you who don’t plan on reading the entire review — MGMT and Yeasayer played last night at the Echoplex in Echo Park and it was glorious.
Second — for those of you planning on reading the review — LA’s been funny lately.
Yesterday was the clearest day I’ve seen in years. You could see the snow capped San Bernardino Mountains from Manhattan Beach and the city of Los Angeles was on plain view for anyone who cared to look.
Naturally I w... MORE

Thanks, Dave. Over the past couple of nights, I’ve been jazzed to see some top-notch music on fresh installments of “The Late Show with David Letterman” - despite the ongoing Writers’ Guild strike that has been crippling the TV and film industries for weeks. On Tuesday, I caught the Brooklyn-based, tongue-in-cheek, quasi-psychedelic prog-pop-rock ensemble MGMT who remind me of the most baroque British bands of the late ‘60s and early ‘70s, and who were first brought to...
