Who?M83 is the project of Anthony Gonzalez, a French musician who has dabbled in everything from shoegaze to electronica to, more recently, dream pop. While the ambient sounds of his first few albums were beautiful to put on during a lazy day, Gonzalez's latest album, Saturdays = Youth, contains a batch of well-written pop songs you can listen to any time. And I Care Because?- He made the ultim...

When I look at my notes from this past weekend's M83 show words like sparkly and ethereal are the first ones that I notice. Note to self: Those are lame, overused words to describe music. A one-off gig at the Walt Disney Concert Hall, Los Angeles' newest architectural landmark, brought M83 aka Anthony Gonzalez, his laptop and synthesizer together with the Los Angeles Philharmonic' like indie ro...

For some reason, I thought M83 made electronic music, but this new video for "Graveyard Girl" is not electronic in the slightest. It's indie rock? dream-pop? "Graveyard Girl" is off M83's upcoming album Saturdays = Youth which comes out next week (April 15th).What genre of music is this exactly?

The new M83 video just came out today. Here is "Kim & Jessie": The song is off Saturdays=Youth. Again, more on the rock-ish side than the electronic. Do you like this side of M83? Or prefer his older sounds?

"...7 a.m. ... dusty road ... I'm gonna drive until it burns my bones... " M83-"Highway of Endless Dreams"Funny, how a lyric can be a cue to dredge up memories - even those you might want to remain forever submerged. As soon as M83's Morgan Kibby uttered the opening setup to "Highway of Endless Dreams", the dust storm gathered into a flood of information. In the early '90's, our family went on...

Okay so the actual date is up for debate. This one goes out to all those angst ridden chicks I loved so much in high school. May your black roses never fade and your skin never tan. I miss the ashen goth girl of my youth it seems they grow out of it and become lesbians and bitches. but for a breif moment they truly are cool. so I dedicate this track to them.

M83 come onto stage with Anthony Gonzales, Morgan Kibby and a drummer surrounded by what I can only describe as a Gladiators Danger Zone box that protected its contestants from tennis balls. Aesthetics aside though, M83 have a powerful combination now that includes the mercurial Kibby who sings passionately and intensely throughout.

I received a fascinating press release today about the ambient electronica musician M83. It's been awhile since we've heard anything new from the french artist, but it looks like that's about to change. Next month he will digitally release an album of songs that he recorded in 2006. He is currently in the studio working on an album that will be released some time next year. The studio album...

In conjunction with the April release of Saturdays=Youth, the french electro-ambient band, consisting of Anthony Gonzalez (and formerly Nicolas Fromageau), gears up for a tour this fall. First started in 2001, M83, named after the galaxy, adopts the "shoegazing" methods of bands like My Bloody Valentine. If you live under a rock as I do, "shoegazing" is a genre that exploded in the late 80's an...

On Saturdays=Youth, Anthony Gonzalez of M83 churns out the kind of epic, spacey, electronic anthems that Pink Floyd would've, had they only a better Roland synthesizer and maybe a little less LSD.The voices on "We Own The Sky" are mixed low and whispery, and often lost in the layers of arena-sized synths and celestial guitar tones. There's something about burnt stars crying and secrets from the...
