Newsflash: alt-country singer-songwriter Lucinda Williams , long known for the intensity of her bittersweet ruminations on missed connections and failed relationships, is happy. At least so claims the New York Daily News in this recap of Williams' forthcoming album Little Honey (out Oct. 14), full of celebrations of her new relationship with co-producer Tom Overby. A happy Lucinda Williams. What's next, AC/DC singing lullabies?

I've written before on AWT that I was no fan of Lucinda's previous release West. The whole girl gets done wrong by a loser then gets dark and dreary act was old on on the album. There were few great songs on the album but what worked on World Without Tears slid into a disturbing creepiness on West. I say all of this because Williams is absolutely one of my favorite artists. Lenoir. Blind Willie Johnson narrates much of the film as if from outer space (one of his records was among the musical selectio... MORE
This week The Program has been all about Lucinda Williams and a record she wrote after four years away. Away from us, but not away from life; Williams' mother died in the hiatus between this record and Car Wheels. I had a lot to say about this record until I went looking for a picture of Lucinda and found a perfect review by Lonesome L.A. Cowboy on, of all frigging places, mySpace. Cowboy's review says everything there is to say about this record, but especially this: t... MORE
She is one of the greatest songwriter/singers around right now. I am not really a country fan- but what she does transcends labels. Yeehah!!
