Best Albums of 2008 So Far- The Mog List

Artist:
Album:
Track: My Year in Lists - (with Los Campesinos!)
(21)
Perhaps last year you remember Dale (www.mog.com/dale) gathering all the half year lists. Not only was this fun, it was also informative, because this way you could discover all kinds of albums you perhaps hadn't listened to yet but apparently other moggers are very high on! I can honestly say it was the way I discovered and started to love without barriers The National. Dale, having a busier life than yours truly, will pass on doing it this year. I contacted him if I per... MORE

Blog post image preview Here’s a cool method of enticing Pitchfork and its hipster audience. Firstly, associate yourselves with Broken Social Scene for Indie authenticity. Create a frenetic collage of noise by bombarding the listener with as many musical instruments the college music department will let you borrow and worry little over any proficiency in being able to play them adequately. Long, meaningless and occasionally self effacing song titles will help immensely along the way. Don’t forget... MORE

Los Campesinos! gig taped and reviewed

(29)
Blog post image preview I admit, I'm kind of nervous. Kind of nervous because normally I can say anything, and you just have to accept it as the truth. I could say the band all took their shirt off and did a bellydance, and there is no one to say they did not. But this time you can actually judge my review and see the gig. Yikes. So all the more reason to talk about the things you cannot see, but that certainly did happen on the night that Los Campesinos! played the Paradiso Small Hall. We had ... MORE

In tomorrow's New York Times Book Review, Michael Azerrad reviews Dan Kennedy's Rock On. It sounds like an interesting book, but the review repeats a couple of pieces of received wisdom that are in danger of becoming accepted fact without ever quite being true. First, there's this:
The time frame is circa 2003, when illegal file sharing was starting to dent the bottom line; fatally, the industry played down the Internet.
While it's true that the music industry ... MORE

This is a band from england you HAVE to check out!  They are flawless!!   From Wikipedia.org   The group came together at Cardiff University in 2006, originally consisting of Neil on guitar, Ellen on bass guitar, and Ollie on drums. In March 2006, Tom joined the band, assuming the role of lead guitarist and songwriter, later followed by Gareth on vocals and glockenspiel, Harriet on violin and keyboard, and finally Aleks on vocals, keyboards, and melody horn. The band... MORE
