"i want all that boring old shit,
like letters and sodas." i think i've played this now fifteen times. sometimes i miss the 90's.
sometimes i miss girls with guitars who sang about things i could relate to that no girl with a guitar really sang about before.
sometimes i miss this era of liz phair.
sometimes i wonder if i ever had a boyfriend, a real boyfriend, who bothered with letters or kisses goodnight, who i was crazy about in the same way.
sometimes i think i didnt matte... MORE

Blog post image preview Liz Phair's music career has been a rollercoaster ride...and we ain't talking no "It's A Small World" picnic. After her initial indie twot rock success, Phair signed her soul over to Capitol Records. Under the major label umbrella the mother of one received major backlash. Fans called her a sell-out, while one New York Times critic went on to compare her 2003 self-titled release for Capitol to an Avril Lavigne album (ouch!), noting her collaboration with pop songwrit... Blog post image preview how'd mine, you ask? it tasted of day-old sandwich (smoked ham in foccaccia from Café Fresco by way of the fridge) meets authentic Pakistani fare (lamb korma, some roti, and a banana lassi at The Kabab Shop), plus 30 minutes of flash rain thrown in. beyond that, my Friday night peaked at imitation-Tom Jones and closed with Katrina & the Waves. thanks to my disconcerting mix of brunch and dinner, i somehow landed in Qba at Hotel Cambodiana. a Malaysian Indian labele... Blog post image preview

It's been five years since Liz Phair's self titled album on Capitol was released and although a lot of long time fans were put off by the album because it appeared to be overly commercial, we embraced the fun of the wonderful pop that Lauren Christy, Graham Edwards and Scott Spock of The Matrix brought to the table as produceres and co-songwriters with Liz.

We do have a bit of fun playing a censored version of "H.W.C." filled with numerous bleeps but the song is so catchy... MORE

The Girly Sound Sound

Artist:
Album:
Track:
(114)
Blog post image preview In 1991, before Liz Phair became the "average everyday saint psycho supergoddess" she was just a really hot chick with a guitar and a four-track, producing three tapes worth of raw demos under the name Girly Sound. The tapes definitely made the rounds and eventually landed her a record deal with Matador and the release of her debut album Exile In Guyville. Much of the material for Exile and others that followed was culled from these earlier tapes which place these demos ... MORE

Blog post image preview Oh Liz, what happened to you? Did you lose all your indie street cred and vanish into corporate rock oblivion? Will you only be remembered as the "Why Can't I" singer? Hell no!!!! You released one of the best albums of the 1990's. By the way, will you marry me?

Thank Mog it's Friday!!! Time to get your freak on with Liz P.

Give it to me, don't give it away
Don't think about what the others say
My skin's getting clear and my hair's so bright
All you do is fuck me every day and night
You're my secret beauty routine
Na na na na, what my body has seen!
I am looking good and I'm feeling nice
Baby, you're the best magazine advice
Give me your hot, white cum
Give me your hot, white cum
I'm gonna pull you back down between the sheets
Everythin

I've been on a "Liz Phair" kick for weeks now. I've posted the song "Fuck and Run" on every site I frequent. No, I'm not a site junkie... Actually, I only frequented a total of three sites, now only two. So, guess I probably shouldn't have said every site. But, I'm too lazy to back space and rewrite this post. I just basically here to say Liz Phair is kicks ass and her song Fuck and Run beats all. I woke up alarmedI didn't know where I was at firstJust that ... MORE

Losing Love & Finding It Again

Artist:

Blog post image preview This is a beautiful song. I first discovered it as a central element of the motion picture soundtrack for "13 going on 30". A great metaphor in the lyrics is "We're already wet and we're gonna go swimming.".

I wrapped Christmas lights around a chair.

(35)
The key stuck in the top lock as it always does. I flicked on the hallway light and proceeded to walk into my apartment. I stepped over an assortment of slip-ons and flip flops next to the door and kicked off a pair of brown Diesel shoes I've owned since 2001. The place was warm and still faintly smelled of the dinner I cooked the night before. I washed my hands and went back to the kitchen to clean the dishes left in the sink. As I did all of this, I put on Belinda Carlis... MORE
