One of my desert island disks is Little Feat's Waiting for Columbus, which was recorded live at the Rainbow Theatre in London and Lisner Auditorium in Washington, DC. Part of what makes that a desert island disk is the inclusion of the Tower of Power horns. On the break for Dixie Chicken, for example, the horns break into a little dixieland jazz before the song returns to the second verse. This clip is from the Rainbow Theatre show, and features Mick Taylor on guitar. ... MORE

Hey now ... Just got this message from my dear friend Emma Spires ... Who is currently driving Paul Bararre & Fred Tackett around the U.K. for their mini tour ... Had a fun time playing with Knights of Crisis at the Copper Top in Bloomington, IL last Saturday. After playing for over 3 hours we finished the show with Little Feat's "Willin", and the crowd was screaming for more Feat, so we played "Dixie Chicken" as an encore. The audience response started a small discussion within the band about the covers we choose to play at these longer shows. Besides originals and blues, lately we've been playing a heavy mix of songs made famous... MORE
