I swore to myself I wouldn't post anymore videos today, but this one is worth breaking my vow for. If you don't already know, I Love Lil' Mama for her fresh enthusiasm, her tight flow and her youthful lyrics. After years of misogynistic rap, I find her so refreshing. But her freestyles are something else. She proves she's a force to be reckoned with and as a newcomer to the game, she's only going to get ILLER! This clip of her freestylin' over Weezy's "Milli" riddim (... MORE
It's been a while since I heard something I liked from 2007 breakthrough hip-hop artist Lil Mama. I was getting worried Lil Mama was gearing up to be a one-hit-wonder after the uber-success of "Lip Gloss."
On her newest video for the track "L.I.F.E." off her debut full-length VYP: Voice Of The Young People Lil Mama pulls a 180, singing about the hard knock life. She sings with the force of a mini-me Mary J. Blige and, well, it's pretty darn good.

I am not that happy with the state of the state of hip hop now in exception for the conscious hip hop that I do enjoy such as AD, the voice, The Roots, Mos Def and I know many others that I am not familiar with. I miss Heavy D, A Tribe Called Quest and De La Soul so hopefully the future generations will truly love to appreciate fun hip hop and not gansta rap. So, Lil Mama..you sure is ... MORE
Lip Gloss is the song I have had stuck in my head since hearing it a couple weeks ago....i am embarrassed to say. Communicating the inability to stop hearing this song in my head to friend Erik, my own personal Joseph Campbell wrote: "In myth as a hero(ine) sets forth on her travels she is usually given an item from a mentor to aid in her quest. The 'classic' item is the enchanted sword, the light sabre, or weapon of unsurpassed quality from a near forgotten time. ... MORE
so I might be just discovering this hot young thang, but its about damn time a black female rapper steps up to the game-I'm tired of all these would be white girl dork rappers and their non sensical lyrics-lil mama is bringing something really good to the table-so good she doesn't even need music (re: lipgloss) I need to know more about her-I love it! now if you'll excuse me, I'm about to buy me some lipgloss.....
