All Music GuideThis double LP consists of two separate studio sessions featuring tenor-saxophonist Lester Young. The first set has his regular working group of the mid-'50s with trumpeter Jesse Drakes, pianist Gildo Mahones, bassist John Ore and drummer Connie Kay (just prior to him joining The Modern Jazz Quartet). Although that session is decent, the other half of this two-fer (which matches Young with fellow Basie veteran Harry "Sweets" Edison on trumpet, the Oscar Peterson Trio and Buddy Rich) is the reason to search for this valuable out-of-print set.
