Since my friend tolkovyislovar' and I are on a "things-Russian" roll these days, what with discussions of lard, (a.k.a. sandwich fat), pickled apples and melon, Russian teenagers impersonating gangsters, and the cultural dissonance of Sonic Youth meets the St. Petersburg scene - ballistic beer bottles and all... Leave it to me to turn my homework into something about music. Here I am studying the geography of the Russian Empire for my Soviet Experiment midterm. I start looking up stuff about Leningrad (now known as St. Petersburg) which was the capital of Russia back in the day. And I stumble across a ska punk band called Leningrad. Anyways, here's one of their songs. I think I would actually like it a lot if the Russian language was a little more melodic. OK, back to study... MORE
