All Music GuideAlto great Lee Konitz is featured with German tenor saxophonist Peter Decker's quartet on this lively set from 1996. The group plays three of Konitz's originals (including the title cut and the catchy "Thing-In"), three op standards, two Decker tunes, and the brief and freely improvised "Dim the Light." Decker's light tone on tenor proves to be quite complementary to Konitz, and the pianoless trio (guitarist Dany Schwickerath, bassist Johannes Schaedlich, and drummer Oliver Strauch) inspire the lead voices. Among the highlights of this fairly adventurous cool-toned op set are "Yardbird Suite," the Konitz tunes, and "If You Could See Me Now."
