Ladytron's coming to my town on 6.10.08. Hopefully they won't cancel, but it's at Czar, a very small vodka bar venue. I wouldn't blame them if they did cancel at the last minute. I'd love to hear this track played live.

It's absolutely charming how Ladytron transitions from beat-heavy dance tracks to poppy magic like this _

That would be Liz Fraser from Cocteau Twins, in case you didn't know. :) This new Ladytron album is making me very very happy indeed. It might not be the revelation that Witching Hour was, but it still shows them at the top of their electro-fueled powers. The tagged song above makes me even wonder, what if Liz Fraser wasn't in fact singing glossolalia at all, but was actually speaking Bulgarian, As Mira Aroyo does here? Hmmm. (more in comments)... Título provindo da mais profunda reflexão de uma quinta-feira regada a cachaça. E cerveja. E prosecco. E sushi. Sim, a vida é uma puta. But we love to fuck it sometimes anyway.

Ladytron announced today that their next bumpin record will be Velocifero, due June 2nd. Their 4th album to date was produced by NINer Alessandro Cortini and Ed Banger's Vicarious Bliss and will be released via Nettwerk Music. (Ladytron remixed 2 tunes for NIN last Fall.) The UK disco/rock outfit added the first new track off Velocifero to their myspace player as well. "Black Cat" is a heavy tune, the kind that rattles the floorboards! And it's blissfully instrumental ... MORE

Heylo fellow MOGgers. Sorry I haven't been around lately--mostly it's been because I've worked a bit too hard for my own good. Not my fault. Or maybe. Not sure. But anyway, a couple of weeks ago I featured on the Intelligence area the song "International Dateline" by Ladytron. Well, I have found myself in a bit of a tough time between the original version and this one I'm about to spotlight on of the song as to which is my favorite. And in my humble opinion... MORE

My Indie Intelligence Track of the Week: Earlier this week at the 4:15 A.M. alarm to get up for work, I was listening to this very song and all I could recall were the lyrics "International dateline" and "Let's end it here." Friday night I hunted down the song, happily found the album. I am downright beside myself as this is already one of my favorite albums. British post-modern electropop. Who knew!? ~ 'Sunshine'... I discovered this group last year through a friend. There's something about the group that just catches my attention. I like music in the electronica genre and things like techno, but there's something a bit different about this group. Their sound reminds me a lot like the songs I would find on a Lali Puna CD. I like the song "Seventeen", but I decided to post this song instead. I hadn't really listened to the whole CD when my friend burned it for me, but now that I'... MORE

I've loved the music of Ladytron ever since I first heard "Playgirl". I love Helen Marnie's sexy-cool vocals, and I love the vintage synths. I love that they came up with electroclash three years before Fischerspooner and Felix Da Housecat popularized the genre. So, when I found out that they had a new album out two years ago, I found the first snippets I could find. "Sugar" especially grabbed me, because it was so unlike anything they had done before, with the roaring g... MORE

I'm about to be 20. I know I'm still a baby, but I wish I was seventeen again....I felt like I was on top of the world at 17....20 feels...it feels....so blah

I retract my previous comments regarding this album.
Listening to it more, I really appreciate the effects they used on the songs.
Sugar, Weekend (which originally i disliked on Witching Hour), Citadel, and Tender Talons are all quite fantastic. I'm going to go grab that disc now. Anyway I reccommned it to Ladytron fans. :)... MORE

Aside from Ladytron being my favourite band,
we must agree they make excellent music.
However, Extended Play, Witching Hour's follow up,
left a little something to be desired, even from a big time Ladytron fan.
I found the remixes to be a bit too down beat for my tastes.
I had spectacular expectations for the Catholic remix of D.E.Y.T
and was mildly dissappointed with how slow it turned out to be.
Not that the religious chenting didn't add something cool.
Anyway there... MORE
