L7 were the most well-known all-female band to emerge from the 1990s grunge revolution. Although they would eventually be eclipsed by Courtney Love's media circus, L7 produced some of the most assured heavy rock of the era. As enigmatic poster-girls for the Women in Rock movement, L7 founded the abortion rights organization Rock for Choice, but looked to such testosterone-fueled bands as Kiss and AC/DC for musical inspiration. Love this song. LZ was the first all female band that I remember liking...and being scared to death of! Girls didn't dress...or talk like this in Ohio! I saw th em live for the first time on one of the traveling Lollapalooza tours....right after Bricks Are Heavy was released I think...I was impressed, and like i said a little frightened! And now I see Donita Sparks of L7 is opening up on the latest Donnas tour...a nice little passing of the torch...... MORE

The female angst continues...this time with L7...
This band came into my world during the same time as Nirvana & all the other grungy delights via the Sub Pop label. "Shove", naturally speaking, is my most favourite one from them. Such attitude set to some sludgey guitars & loose rhythms. The perfect anthem for a two-finger salute...... MORE

Or, Michael Noer, you can kiss my degreed, career-having ass. (actual title a lyric from tagged artist and song) For those who don’t know, today Forbes.com put up an article by Michael Noer entitled “Don’t Marry Career Women.” Forbes.com quickly took it down, because apparently the backlash was swift and fierce.
