Aldonza to Don Quixote?

(2)
Blog post image previewThe CDBaby package arrived today, I've ripped the CD to iTunes, so it's time to upload some Kristin Cotts MP3s. (And suffer the slings and arrows of Moggers who know considerably more about interpreting lyrics than I.) As I listened to this track, I couldn't get "Don Quixote" in general and "Man of La Mancha" in particular out of my mind. Comments?

This new song by Kristin Cotts starts out sounding like maybe an Obama song, but quickly becomes a lamentation of our current political state. But, despite the warning that things may have gone too far, it's a very fun, upbeat song. It's available as a free download on her website. Enjoy!

Get away from me! (but not too far)

Blog post image previewI've grown (far too) accustomed to your face. I won't use the "F" word yet, but let's see other people. (What did you think the "F" word was? Tsk, what a dirty mind. It's that terrifying word, "Friends"!) Kristin Cotts wants more "space" and less "face" time in this tune about elastic relationships.

Can you see the Unicorn?

Blog post image previewWhy this image coupled to a song about Beauty? I recall a story, possibly from Playboy magazine, about an old man, his kids, and his last request to see something beautiful before he died. Oh well, it's an interesting song, nevertheless, about the fleeting image of you-know-what.

Kristin Cotts is a Chicago singer songwriter who I would highly recommend. She is often classified as folk, but there is an alternative rock/indie feel to a lot of her music as well. She plays acoustic guitar and writes songs with some of the most thoughtful, intelligent lyrics you will ever hear. Fans of artists like Rosie Thomas, Sufjan Stevens and the like would love this stuff! Her CD Spatial Relations is not up on MOG, but you can listen on last.fm and her website. If... MORE
