Funky Friday... Ach du Leiber!

Free music video of Trans Europe Express (22)

You may not readily associate late 70's techno band Kraftwerk with funk, but the direct influence on Afrika Bambaata's 1982 hit "Planet Rock" is a fact of Funk History. Kraftwerk are the reason music sounds like it does today. Pioneers, 20 years before their time, they invented much of what we recognise as the tools of electronic music. But quite apart from being inventors they were funky as hell and became the most sampled artsits ever..So, here's the audio for " TransE... As the landscape of the industry continues to change, musicians have shown they no longer need record companies to survive or sell their music. Now we can see the industry no longer needs musicians. Check out this example of machines doing it for themselves; Of course you have got to give them the basics first, but once they are shown the ropes they knock out those tricky solos again and again without a bum note. This robot was programmed to play John Coltrane's ma... MORE

Whatever Wednesday: Kraftwerk's "The Robots"

Artist:
Album:
Track:
(66)
Metal, New Wave, Electronica . . . Wednesday has sort of taken on a wierd life of its own here in MOGville, so I decided today was as good a day as any to post this. I have been listening to a serious amount of Kraftwerk lately. Early and later stuff. One song that has been a particularly huge hit around my house has been "The Robots." My 3 year old and 5 year old love this song and beg me to play it on an almost daily basis. When I do, they always do their best to d... MORE

Round about 4.10 this straight down the line Kraftwerk cold techno thing sort of changes gear and, to my robot ear, turns into something a bit special. Lovely bit at 4.40. And then notches up around 6.00.

Blog post image preview Kraftwerk offered up a free download of their song "Radioactivity" for Stop-Rokkasho.org, a rare live version recorded in Warsaw. The Stop-Rokkasho organization is working to disrupt or hinder the reprocessing, storage and disposal of nuclear waste near Rokkasho, Aomori Prefecture Japan and around the world. The group hopes to draw attention to their cause by enlisting support from the music community. Their website offers some 20 tracks of artists who are showing their su... MORE

Chapter 17: Meh... [One week to my Birthday... oh dear...]

For the first time in my near-24 years, I am _not_ excited for my birthday. Yes, y'all heard proper. I'm turning 24 next Thursday. And with all the drama of work, singlehood, and the pathetic fact that one of my friends that I reaaaalllllly liked is now ENGAGED!? [oh.the.f#cking.drama.], for once I feel as if next Thursday is really not worth celebrating. Heck, I've even crossed off my name from the days off book at work, just so I can work on that day. Because I jus... MORE

Possibly one of the coolest remakes that Kraftwerk did for 1991's "The Mix" album. Ace remake there, Roboter. Ace remake. When I first heard the "Mix" album I was thrilled like nobody's business. I mean, I absoeffin'lutely love this song. [Note: all. time. favorite. kraftwerk. song.] Though, not as much as the original 1977 13:31 version. That is, hands down, the best. ~ 'Sunshine'

For one, I'm adopting 'Trans-Europa' as not only a nickname for myself but also as the nickname for my Kraftwerk fan fiction. Speaking of the story, yesterday over the course of nearly 7 hours I posted two all-new chapters!! Trans-Europe Express Check. It. Out! Chapter two includes some German as well as a song, which I say deserves a sing-along! Today's song of the day is a Kraftwerk song, earlier than the song on TEE C/2 [TEE Chapter 2]. Possibly #3 on my top 5... MORE

My first post

Artist:

No surprise that my first post would be soundtracked by a Kraftwerk song - monomaniac about the Dusseldorf four that I am... I'm trying out Mog as a longtime last.fm user. I'm interested to see what Mog offers that's better or different from the other service.

Blog post image preview Moggers. I need your help. I'm looking for music from the seventies that are similar to Kraftwerk. I'm a sucker for robot music/old electronic and I thought I would throw this out there. I've already discovered Telex, Yellow Magic Orchestra, Jean-Michel Jarre, and more recently Roberto Cacciapaglia's Anne Steel album. I'm even down with 80's music like Klein & MBO and Alexander Robotnick. So that's where I'm at. Do you know of something I'm missing or leaving out th... MORE
