Maybe it's because it's summer, or maybe because I'm jobless and feeling like I need to bathe myself in bubbly, warm splashes of echo and groove, but I've been on a real dub kick lately, all stuff from the 70's. I didn't know a damned thing about dub 3 months ago; luckily I was in SF watching Hyman rock the NARM convention and I stopped into Amoeba Records, who have a huge section dedicated to dub. King Tubby (born Osbourne Ruddock, January 28, 1941 – February 6, 1989) was a Jamaican electronics and sound engineer, known primarily for his influence on the development of dub in the 1960s and 1970s.

I have been od-ing on indie pop music as of late. Today I went to the cd store and scored 4 reggae dub cds in the bargin bin. The other thing is I have been really listening to a lot of reggae and dub the last two days. I love reggae. I really can't say enough about how much great music is hidden and waiting for all you moggers to find. There is soul, dance, funk and psychedelic, dub, trance all over in reggae...if you enjoy any of those genras...get on over to the reggae ... MORE

The Dub Vortex is a podcast dedicated 100% to the straight up dub of the 60's, 70's and 80's and the host of the show has quite a collection from what I've heard so far. It has been a long time since I've heard this much good dub in one sitting. Everytime I went to a Goldenvoice show and saw G.B.H. or Peter and the Test Tube Babies, or some other crazy U.K. punk band, the music between sets would always be great dub like this.
