Last October, Kid Rock topped the charts with his first release in 4 years, modestly titled Rock N' Roll Jesus. The self-proclaimed music deity instantly hit #1 with the album on the Billboard 200 chart. The current single, "All Summer Long," swooped into the Billboard Hot 100, eventually reaching #1, certified platinum by the RIAA. The second single, "Amen," reached #11 on mainstream rock and #27 on Modern Rock stations.

I've been meaning to write a Kid Rock post for days now, ever since I saw him perform his summer radio hit "All Summer Long" on a Letterman re-run a few weeks back. I'm not a huge Kid Rock fan. People where pissed last October when news hit they had missed the opportunity of being innocent bystanders at an Atlanta-area Waffle House scuffle that led to Kid Rock taking another mugshot. Rock reportedly got into a fight with a man heckling his entourage. The heckler was charged with one felony count of second degree criminal damage to property because he broke a window. The song borrows musically from classic rock hits Sweet Home Alabama (Lynyrd Skynyrd) and Werewolves of London (Warren Zevon). Kid Rock got off the hook for a copyright infringement case this week. Louisiana musician Troy Landry didn't prove that Rock's "Somebody's Gotta Feel This" ripped off his own music.
