Kelis is about to release an album of her biggest hits from 1999-2006. The album is titled Kelis – The Hits and it will be quite a treat for her US fans, as some of the tracks have never been released in The States. The hits were compiled from four Kelis albums, including Wanderland which has not been released in the US yet plus three additional tracks. One of the bonus tracks is the Ol' Dirty Bastard tune "Got Your Money" with Kelis softening up ODB's gruff voice. Tr... MORE
While her husbands career is as strong as ever, Kelis is having a little bit of difficulty finding a stable home in the music industry. Nas' wife Kelis has been dropped by Jive Records after releasing just one album for their company. Kelis had already been on two other labels while recording with Pharrell's Star Trak imprint but they soon parted ways. Her 2006 album Kelis Was Here wasn't a very big hit with the fans, and the rest is history.

When she bumped into me initially, I brushed it off. The place was getting busy. This kind of stuff happens. I spilled a little bit of my drink, but I let it slide. The second time she bumped into me, she elbowed my rib cage. Hard. That type of shit happens in mosh pits, not clubs with a dress code. Not to "Umbrella." She must be off her ass. I glare at her friends, who all seem to be clones of her. Fried hair, lip liner, spaghetti straps. How did they get in here? I dec... MORE
Me: I just read a homeless man to filth. Her: Seriously? What happened?Me: I walked down to the mall to get a sandwich. This sandwich. Her: Uh-huh.Me: And the usual assortment of crazy people were there milling about. I passed them and started walking back to the office, and there was a homeless guy sitting on the curb. He said "Yer gonna give me that sandwich!" I didn't want to get him riled up, so I just passed him without saying anything. Her: Uh-huh.Me: And screams out "Y... MORE
It's a little embarrassing to admit that I listen to Kelis (yes, being a music snob comes with some baggage), but dammit, I really dig (mog?) Till The Wheels Fall Off. It's a great feel-good song, even if it is on the pop, mainstream side (hence the guilty pleasure). Though I've only listened to it a few times so far, I can tell it's going to be in semi-heavy rotation. Seems like a perfect summer song, alas a few months too late. The only other Kelis song that I can clai... MORE
Kelis just gets better and better with each album. I still really love Tasty, but I find that this album has a lot more slow jams and love tunes. That is ok with me despite the fact that I am in no mood for love tunes. The album is hip-hop based of course, but there are a few tracks that get on with the 80's trent like "Weekend" and "I Don't Thing So". "Weekend" with Will.I.Am, who produced about a third of the album is featured on the track, but really has no major v... MORE
The word bossy makes me think of one thing and one thing only: Myself around age 8. I was a bossy little girl, actually I would guess that I was bossy most of my young life (not that I am ruling out the possibility that people still consider me bossy).
I distinctly remember being reprimanded by my dad all throughout those pre-pubescent years for being bossy. I bossed my parents, my friends and of course my poor little sister. My sister is 5 years younger than me and she s... MORE

There IS something addictively intriguing and appealing about Bossy, and Kelis- this is the first song I've heard but it's really GOT me. When a songs playing in rotation and you don't even notice...! I just read the comparison with Neneh Cherry, whom I also used to love for the hip hop-alt-pop-rock fusion. Do any Kelis fans out there think the two bear similarities?
