John Forte, Fugees producer who’s been in jail for the past 8 years for drug possession, has recently written about the experience, as well as this random remix of the Chromatics cover of Kate Bush’s “Running up that Hill,” one of my all-time favorites. And sorry everyone, my fav cover is still Placebo’s.On that note, [...]
There is little on the album that sounds commercially accessible, and the fact that her record company gave her even more financial resources for her next album is unfathomable in today's economic climate.
I don't know too much about Kate Bush, who is not so famous in my country and who is not of my age.I even don't have much chance to find her songs. I know about her from this MV--Wuthering Heights. She is so amazing that totally attracted my eye-ball. She is not a singer to me, she is a real artist. She is not a woman to me, she is a ghost.
Although Kate looks some times creepy to me (her image and some times her voice), that is just something you got to get used to, putting that aside, accepting what she has to offer, listening to her music. The Kick Inside is one of my favorite albums, from the beginning to the end. David Gilmour produced the album.
Under the Ivy was the B-side to Kate's Running Up That Hill single from 1985.It's short, sweet and (deceptively) simple. Yet there is an underlying unease, almost menace to the song. The singer invites you to look for her, giving detailed instructions:Go into the gardenGo under the ivyUnder the leavesAway from the partyGo right to the roseGo right to the white roseAs a young boy I was fascinate...
I had forgotten how chilling this track/video is and then the song made itself known during a 'shuffle-play'. I remember seeing this on TOTP in 1980, when I was young and impressionable, and finding it really uncomfortable to watch.
Last night I got this four-note piano phrase stuck in my brain, and it was about two hours before I realized it's the main "riff" from Kate Bush's song "Prologue," on the "Sky of Honey" disc from her newest album, "Aerial." My brain (as I'm sure is the case with many of you) is this huge teeming, tangled catalogue of songs, lyrics, riffs, snatches of sound, and it's always playing something. On...

Having seen Terry Gilliam's fantastic *"Brazil":http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brazil_%28film%29* yesterday, it really is no wonder.I have such a soft spot for cult sci-fi movies that deal with suppressing governments..Ary Barroso's Aquarela do Brasil is the sonic motif of the film, and we have the pleasure of hearing it in various versions, all lovely, if I may say so.I'm sure I'm preaching to t...
