"Good Morning" the opening track off Kanye West's Graduation will always have a special place in my heart. It was the second night of Bonnaroo 2008, about 4:30AM. The sun is about to come up, people are throwing glowsticks at the main stage, waiting 2 hours for Kanye West "late nite" set to start. And, as the sun is about to come up this song opens up the West's set. Perfect. In the video West goes back to his Graduation cover art tagging graphic artist buddy Takashi M... MORE
They say he can’t sing, can’t rap, wears wack clothes, and isn’t street enough. Now Kanye West has turned to face the haters, looked ‘em right in the eye, and agreed with everything they said. Well, almost. They also think he can't write a decent rhyme to safe his life, and cite as exhibit A “Like Kathy Lee need Regis, that’s the way I need Jesus!” They complain, too, about his “samples”. Or as his detractors call 'em, “whole songs.” But West, on soulful new album trac... MORE
The snapshot, taken during Kanye West’s Bonnaroo set, might look like midday, maybe around 3PM. But the photo was taken at sunrise - 5AM - midway through his shorter than usual, late night/early morning set on the main stage, which started two hours late. It seemed like half of the entire festival came out to see West’s Glow In The Dark production, but after an hour and a half of wai... MORE
There may have been a tornado of angry fans at Kanye West’s Bonnaroo performance, which started two hours late, but the following night at his Moline, IL concert a literal tornado nearly missed the arena he was closing up his Glow in The Dark tour in. Captured by crew and security is a video of the funnel closing in on the venue as tornado warning sirens are goign off in the background. Massive flooding followed. Seems the rapper was totally jinxed last weekend.
With no video wall or any other extravagant set-up to delay the start of his set, West jacked the crowd up giving shout outs to the city. Musically the set started off like all of West’s other... MORE
Kanye West has announced a UK Arena tour for November. The stuck up rapper who seems to have his own head a bit too far up his own backside will play his five largest UK shows to date over the course of a week. Tickets go on sale at 9am this Friday (29th November). Wednesday 12th November [...]

At the tail end of his "Glow In The Dark" show in NYC last night, Kanye West delivered a five minute speech in defense of Soulja Boy and spoke out against homophobia in hip hop culture. Soulja Boy has taken an incredible beating from fans and some artists due to his lack of lyrical content, and Kanye stressed the idea that we need to be accepting of all kinds of music. He then went on to name off different types of hip hop artists he enjoyed, noting that it's okay to broa... MORE
My throat is sore, my feet are blistered, and my ears are still ringing: the chaos of Lollapalooza has finally subsided. Due to the wear and tear of the past two days, this third day of music was particulary hard to stomach. Not only was the weather the hottest and stickiest it's been, but there seemed to be even more people than the previous day. It literally took over five minutes to go up a flight of six stairs. Grant Park reeked of garbage and thousands of cups and bot... MORE
When I first caught wind that Kanye ranted on Entertainment Weekly, i assumed they said something really mean about him. It turns out they simply had the audacity to rate his "Glow In The Dark" tour a B+ instead of an A+.... check out what he said on his blog.
"Yo, anybody that's not a fan; don't come to my show. For what?! To try and throw ya'll two cents in? Ya'll rated my album shitty and now ya'll come to the show and give it a B+. What's a B+ mean? I'm an extremist. I... MORE
Those that can, make music. Those that can't, latch on to musicians and subsequently squeeze every penny they can out of the situation... Hopefully this isn't a common theme, but it's an easy mistake to make these days when Rita Marley, Yoko Ono and others continue to lay claim to someone else's art. It's sad when the spotlight exposes the strife over the intellectual property rights of artists they must have really admired at one time. But money talks. And sings and... MORE
Kanye West can be tagged as a hip-hop star, blogger, egomaniac and travel site entrepreneur, but at Tuesday night’s concert at famed Madison Square Garden with a tag team that includes Lupe Fiasco, Rihanna and N.E.R.D., Mr. West proved first and foremost that he is a visionary. Let me, or him for that matter, explain. “You know we started making all of this two days ago,” Kanye told me. He was talking to me about Rihanna’s re-vamped stage set during sound check. Less tha... Holy crap this song is bananas. I’m not sure really what to say about it. I mean the Homecoming track already is pretty hot, and I’m not really even much of a Kanye fan. However you already know that DiscoTech freaking murdered it and brought the dopest synth work in that matches flawlessly with the [...]
