All Music GuideThis solo "mini-LP" contained five tracks and ran nearly 16 minutes. The first track was called "World Shut Your Mouth," but actually there had been no such song on the album of the same name, and this was an all-new recording. It revealed the solo Cope to be a straight-ahead rocker for the most part -- "World" (which became Cope's first U.S. singles chart entry) was a guitar-driven anthem set to a martial beat, and Cope's cover of Pere Ubu's "Non Alignment Pact" fell just short of punk. Cope retained his punk anger in the lyrics, which included "Umpteenth Unnatural Blues," in which he expressed the desire for a violent death. Still, until that occurred, Julian Cope gave notice that its namesake had a claim to ock prominence.
