Last week I heard/saw Dead or Alive's video "You Spin Me Round(Like A Record" on Lizziegreeneyes New Wave wars post. I hadn't seen that vid in ages. They were quite a trip back in the '80s & influenced other artists as well. I was originally going to post a rumination about another great old song that's kicking my unemployed ass these days, but I just threw this on fairly recently, and damn if it doesn't pack a cathartic whallop. I was going through my cd's and came across 2 of which you moggers should pick up. I can remember buying these in the long boxes, and I have gotten every cent out of them. If anything, its a great reminder of the days of MTV when they played good music. If you can find them, they are called "Nevermind the Mainstream, Best of 120 Minutes", volumes 1 and 2. Fascinating. A blogophere search for Julian Cope lead me, breadcrumb by breadcrumb, to the mogosphere. Insert toe in pond, prepare to dive in headfirst. Unsure of all around me, take time to get acclimated. It's great to make a new discovery but a little perplexing when it's someone who's been around for decades. How is it that I've never heard of Julian Cope before? The name was scribbled down on the list I keep of things to get and people to check out but I had no idea of who he was or what kind of music he does.
