Like folk-rock? How about Classical violin? Well Josh Ritter and Hilary Hahn are from two very different musical spectrums. Yet I believe thats what makes this so precious.

No marketing angles here. Just two artists that consider it a "double bill", but play together some as well.
Josh Ritter, one of the finest songwriters America has ever known, is playing a show in Little Rock tonight! If you can't tell, I'm super stoked about seeing him live for the first time.
If you're not familiar with Josh, here's the skinny. His lyrics are pure poetry in the most literal meaning of the word. Think Nick Drake, Bob Dylan, and Springsteen's Nebraska. Give the guy a listen, and I guarantee he will light a fire in your soul.

What I poses in my hand's is a bit of a miracle. Miracle in at least two senses. One sense is, that upon requesting it as a purchase at my local library, my request would not be filled. Oh well I shrugged, I get so many great books from the library, it's no skin off my back. The other is more profound.
Author Paul Drummond spent 8 years researching and putting together this exhaustive biography - low tome of the Roky Erikson and the 13th Floor Elevators, "Eye Mind: Th... MORE
Heck of a Idahoian, Josh explains the importance of exercise, education, and properly fitting suitcoats on tour. On A Slice of the Shiny.

It's been racking up the plays for months and now barely I day goes by when I don't listen to it. Hell, it even inspired me to put some of my gig photos into a rather pathetic fan vid. Yup, this is my new favourite song. Disarmingly heartfelt and tender, it take an almost ludicrous scenario and transforms it the most touching love song I've heard. It uses the words we all wish we could say to sum the sort of love we all want to experience. In my eyes at least, there real... MORE
So someone distracted me the other night and I missed Josh Ritter performing on Letterman. Although I guess I can't complain since God gave us YouTube so now we don't miss anything. I believe I've mentioned this is not my favorite song (okay, I might have said I hate this song) but it has grown on me. Let's face it, any song that has the line, "Did I mention how I love you in your underwear?" is bound to grow on me. My main objection was he sounds like Bob Dyl... MORE
-Songs listened to in Rhapsody do not reflect in recently played widgets unless those songs are in your playlist. You'd be a lot cooler if they did. -Truncating posts in the MogOS is brilliant. -Adding buttons for things like linking, blockquoting, and ordered/unordered lists within the compose page would be a great help. -Hows about an internal social bookmarking system added to the "Add This" bar so that I can keep track of the posts I would otherwise bookmark outs... Saw Josh Ritter a couple of nights ago at the Shepherd's Bush Empire in London. (Much gratitude to Joxley for putting me onto this.) Why wasn't Josh home for Thanksgiving, I wondered.I asked the guy standing next to me whether Josh is famous in this country. (Yes, I don't have much of a clue what is going on around me. And yes, there were more than a handful of solitary geeks in the audience. Nice to see so many guys with the confidence to go out on their own.) My neighbou... MORE
Saw Josh Ritter in La Boule Noire last night. Unfortunately because of the transport strikes the place was only a third full. A great show anyway, songs new and old, a few velib jokes and audience participation in the form of cricket noises.
And I continued rhyming throughout the entire post. Except for the fact I've always been crap at poetry. (See: "Ode to a Beef Burrito.") Since I found out Monday that I could have today off, I've had an idea kicking around in my head all week: Josh Ritter in Nashville. After a week and a half of dreary, rain-filled days, driving across the state in the beautiful sunshine sounds like a fabulous idea, right? I'll bet the foliage is just lovely. And then there's, you k... MORE
There's little else to say:
Bruce Springsteen's most brutal ballad, so broken & real, presented here, solemnly, in Josh Ritter's humble & familiar warmth. As lovely as hopelessness gets.
