2. Ben Lee - Float On
3. Good Life - Needy
4. Antony and the Johnsons - What Can I Do (ft. Rufus Wainwright)
5. James Yorkston - 5 a.m.

I love this new Joseph Arthur record. Anyone else hear a major Rolling Stones influence here? Especially on the more upbeat tracks of this album...Joe is also giving Ryan Adams a run for his money in the category of sheer volume of material. Didn't 'Nuclear Daydream' just come out last year, and here is yet another full length album. I am not complaining though...seriously, I mean what if someone like Fergie was this prolific...we would all be hurting.... MORE

I was excited to see today that pitchfork posted a review on Joseph Arthur's latest album Let's Just Be...
until I read it.
OK, so I'm the hugest Joseph Arthur fan I know. Though I can say that about some of my music, I can't say it about all of it. And I have always been torn with Joseph to "keep it like a secret" or to tell "the world at large". In the end I do both. I try to make up for the fact that I can't keep my mouth shut by not telling idiots ab... MORE

I had the great fortune to be able to catch Joseph Arthur live on Thursday night. He was performing as part of Canadian Music Week here in Toronto. He ended up playing for about 90 minutes and it was a solo set. Completely blew my mind ... he has such an amazing, evocative voice. He also used a lot of loops and delay effects to round out the sound which was interesting. The clincher was that he played There Is A Light That Never Goes Out and dedicated it to Elliott Smith... In what can only be called Ryan Adams-like in terms of prolificness, Joseph Arthur reportedly has recorded nearly 80 new songs and is set to release two albums in 2007 only months after putting out his last effort "Nuclear Daydream" - just don't ask the President to pronounce that. He is quoted as saying in Billboard, "We were completely inspired to do this. There was this real air of openness and brotherhood amongst us, and I think you can really hear it". From his... MORE

joseph arthur's redemption's son just arrived in the mail the other day, the first in a series of presents in my annual selfish tradition of gifts for one's self... it hasn't left my CD player in four days! i'm mezmerized by his velvet tongue, which helps me over the hurdle of his lyrics being too religious for the likes of an atheist. it's so out of the ordinary for me - but i LOVE this album. was just listening to it in my car, on the way home from work, and traffic go... There were two, count ‘em, two musical treats during CBS -TV’s late-night programming block this past Friday night. First, L.A,’s Silversun Pickups generated a rapturous, pulsing sonic vortex, Smashing Pumpkins-style, on David Letterman’s program with a performance of “Lazy Eye” from their debut album “Carnavas.” Suh-weet. As if that wasn’t enough… An hour later, Akron, Ohio-spawned singer-songwriter Joseph Arthur and his deft touring band the Lonely Astronauts clo... MORE

This past spring, someone put this song on a mix CD for me, and even though I took to it then, it found its own way off my play list as time went on. I found it again recently, and all of a sudden it couldn't mean more to me.

Well, I only ended up going one day to the VooDoo Music Festival. The fact that they added Juvenile to the midday Sunday schedule guaranteed that it would be PACKED . Saturday was really good tho'. But people need a lesson in festival etiquette, I tell ya. Let me break it down for you. I got to the festival early because Joseph Arthur was playing at 12N. I have always been a fan of his. And now that he has come out of his shell...I'm HOOKED !!! His show was so fearl... MORE
