The Nick Drake acolyte played right next to The Incredibly Foul Gowanus Canal, where the fish all have eight eyes and get plenty of dead Mafiosi in their diet. Truth be told, I bought my ticket because the Upright Citizens Brigade was the opening act. But I got to the show waaay too late to see them, as I'd spent most of the day forgetting all about it. Enjoyed Jose reasonably well, though I can't imagine myself intentionally going to a show by an artist of his stri... MORE
Lovely cover of the Massive Attack song by Swedish singer/songwriter Jose Gonzalez, who can write pretty damn good songs himself.
His high, almost frail voice reminds me a bit of Neil Young, though the timbre is much different.
This song is available on Rhapsody but I will continue to upload mp3s independently of that, so users outside of the US can listen. After all the idea of a Swedish artist being unable to be heard in Sweden is a bit bizarre...
This is not to be missed ! I've seen both these guys ( separately ) and here they are together !! Argentinian-born Swedish singer/songwriter José González is best known for stripping electronic songs to their acoustic essence — his interpretation of the Knife's "Heartbeats" breathes warmth into the original's menacing robo-rock, and his version of Massive Attack's "Teardrop" revels in romantic urgency. However, González's own tunes deserve just as much attention: his sec... MORE
You get that feeling that every once in awhile where life seems to be getting smaller? Like all your obligations start to blur together?
Ah yes, finals week is upon us. Finals week and two part time jobs in my case. It's times like these when a good song can be your saving grace. Something that lets you close your eyes for a minute and drift far away from your paper and your overtime.
If your life is going a mile a minute, take a moment for yourself. If it's not, take ... MORE

Personally i think this song sounds 10 times better live then from the album!! Jose Gonzalez recently took time to stop at The Interface to perform 4 amazing songs from his new album "In Our Nature" including a cover from Massive Attack "Teardrop".
His trademark sound is solo acoustic guitar with soft melody. His work, although mostly original, does include acoustic covers of great hits such as Love Will Tear Us Apart, Born in the U.S.A., and Teardrop.
Insomnia gets a bad rap sometimes. I get so much great music listening done when I should be sleeping. Tonight I made use of my not sleeping by diving into the new Jose Gonzalez record...which you know is good, because Jose comes from Sweden. Sweden = good That is one of the simplest equations in all of rock. I have a list of places I want to see before I die...and Sweden is ROCKETING up the charts. I am not a fan at all of these illegal and unnecessary wars that Georg... MORE
So, I was reading an article the other day about this Sony commercial. I had seen it some time earlier, and again when I went to the British TV Advertising Awards thing at the Walker. It was the second to last commercial they played, just before commercial of the year. Such a great commercial it is, and then after it, to see some guy singing as he does all of these stunts, something as stupid as a beer commercial (I think thats what it was, at least)... Bah, it angers me..... MORE
1. billy bragg - tracks of my tears.
2. hayden - memphis.
3. gram parsons - a song for you.
4. paul westerberg - whatever makes you happy.
5. jose gonzalez - (covering kylie minogue) - hand on your heart.
its a bleak top five. i didn't mean it that way. and it doesn't mean i feel bleak. it means nothing more than its beautiful. and even the most morose of moments can be beautiful.
