Joe Bataan (also spelled Bataán) (born 1942 in Spanish Harlem, New York City) is an Afro-Filipino American Latin R&B musician from New York. He was born Bataan Nitollano and is known as the "King of Latin R&B." His first hit was 1967's "Gypsy Woman" on Fania Records. In 1973, he co-founded the Salsoul label. In 1979, he scored one of the first rap hits, "Rap-O-Clap-O".
