PBS commissioned Joanne Shenandoah to compose and perform the soundtrack for Warrior in Two Worlds. It is the biography of Ely Parker, a Seneca chief and a brigadier general on Ulysses S. Grant's staff. (In fact, Parker wrote the articles of surrender for the Confederacy to sign at Appomattox.) The music reflects the internal struggles that Parker must have felt in his life. He was a warrior in two worlds and not accepted fully in either. Shenandoah's sweet vocals and deep atmospheres are full and vibrant. The sound design is outstanding and the mix is excellent. This disc has no weaknesses. It will appeal to fans of Walela, Little Wolf Band, and Spirit Nation.
