I've been whining lately about the addition of the Music Blog Network thingy, in part because the posts show up everywhere and there's little or no "social" aspect to them. Trying ...

The Blue America PAC hasn't officially endorsed any candidates this year. We have a whole bunch we want to endorse but we're concentrating on Maine's No on 1 campaign for now. As of last night, the equality forces were ahead-- but only marginally. The Portland Press Herald is reporting that a new poll shows that 51.8% of people who plan to vote in November say they will vote no or are leaning...

Heard some Joan yesterday and though this is dated Sept 7, figured I'd pass it along....I love this womans' vocals and glad that she is hooked up with Phil's band, but really glad she continues recording on her own. This should be a treat. From Vanguard Records:Recorded in Nashville and produced by Grammy winner, Steve Buckingham, "Pretty Little Stranger" highlights the soulful sound of Joan Osb...

I first heard this song on a Mahalia Jackson Christmas CD. A Google! search revealed that this is a perennial from 1542, as a children's song as well as a Christmas carol. This version by Joan Osborne has all the soul of this 16th century carol, and captures all drama and joy of this season.
