Exploring an Evolving Instrumental, calling it VJJ

Being a Hendrix fan has it's advantages. We can listen to so many different styles and rythms all the time. He's like a jazz musician using rock n roll as a medium. What would be the definition of jazz for Jimi then, if we allready describe him as making music encompassing "Jazz, R&B, Soul, Funk, Rock, Proto-Heavy-Metal, AND the Blues"? At 2:28 Jimi says he going to "I'm gonna do some jungle s...

Being part Cherokee, Jimi felt connected to the plight and frustrations of the American Indian, before Casinos came along. Nothing to do but sit around drinking all day (sad but mostly true in the 60's). And the story of Jimi's career was filled with frustrations too. He learned to deal with them because he had to eat, and wanted to keep playing the blues. To illustrate the frustration of the ...

This is from the last Jimi Hendrix concert performance. Not sure if Jimi knew this was his last show or not. Don't know when he cancelled the rest of the tour. But all the crap he was dealing with needed attention. I'm thinking he wasn't wanting to continue as he started the show bc not only were they booing him (not his fans, but the German motorcycle gang) when came onstage "I don't give a fu...

Jimi Hendrix let's the good times roll - Sept 22 69
2 months ago

This is a really far out tune when Jimi plays it live, it's even faster. Like at the Newport Jazz festival on Sept 22 1969. It is in the middle of a long jam, and unless you were listening closely you might miss it. For 5 minutes, Jimi goes into crazy animated playing mode at hyper-speed. (for some unknown reason, the youtube video i put here isn't allowed) BUMMER
