Well, this is it. For any Jens fan who also reads blogs that post about the Black Cab Sessions , getting Jens to croon this tune for the series was always to be the apex of punny possibilities. We couldn't resist mentioning it when Death Cab played for Black Cab , and according to the note that accompanies this performance, neither could the BCS's entire audience in most every piece of fan mail...
In a recent post on his personal blog, Swedish indie pop goofball Jens Lekman recounted meeting with actress and rookie director Drew Barrymore:There's a few of my songs in Drew Barrymore's directorial debut Whip it. Drew was really nice, she flew me out to LA, we had a cup of coffee and she showed me some clips from the movie. Usually I say no to film synchs because you just get a short synops...
I have had this Jens Lekman album FOREVER and have just been sitting on it...not so smart. It would have been a great summer album...the arrangements and the lyrics are bouncy without being overtly poppy...the guy can really craft a song. And this one I especially love...
I find my self listening to Jens Lekman more and more everyday. His songs are just SO charming...offbeat, unique, often funny but always heartfelt...he is a breath of fresh air to say the least.Long live Jens!
I am in such awe of good songwriters. They make it seem so easy. But have you ever tried to tell a story with emotion and melody in under five minutes? Not so easy at all.I am have been listening to Jens Lekman almost non stop for all of this week. The guy is so gifted when it comes to crafting a song...here is one of my favorite tunes of his...This song really speaks to me too...I had a great ...
"Oh, I still remember "Regulate" with Warren G.Could that have been back in the sweet summer of 1993?It was a sweet summer's night on Hammer Hill"- Jens Lekman
So, getting pretty excited about "ATP":http://www.atpfestival.com/events/explosions/ this year. I am going to the Explosions one: Friday 16th May to Sunday 18th May.The line up is below. And a song by Jens Lekman, who I have a bit of a crush on. Awesome!EXPLOSIONS IN THE SKY, BROKEN SOCIAL SCENE, IRON AND WINE, DINOSAUR JR, ADEM, ....AND YOU WILL KNOW US BY THE TRAIL OF THE DEAD, POLVO, ANIMAL C...
Ok, mog, again with the jumping the gun on the age update. I've still got 5 days left! ;)Random thoughts for your perusal: Listening to CBC this morning while making breakfast, Chris Jones was being interviewed about the book he wrote about the 3 men who were to be abandoned on the space station for 6 months after the Columbia disaster. I had never thought nor read about what they went through....
Just posted Hallelujah by The Helio Sequence yesterday. The Opposite Of Hallelujah, Jens Lekman isn't quite catchy. But name of track is enough to get me feel "What a Hallelujah!" p.s. don't want to be rude but this cover just blow me away.
Rating: (at the risk of losing all my street cred) 8.5I like to consider myself an equal opportunity music aficionado. There were times in my ignorant youth that, when asked, I would declare my love for "everything pretty much..except rap music. and country." It was later in life, when I discovered the joys of acquired taste, that I forced myself to sit down and actually digest music from the...
Ever have one of those lost weekends? Not the Ray Milland drinking binge kind. No, the kind where the weather is weird, the energy is low and by Sunday night you wonder, "What the hell did I get done this weekend?" Nothing is the answer. Absolutely nothing. And because you've slept so much or too late both Saturday and Sunday, you can't get to sleep at a reasonable hour Sunday night. You wake u...
Just got back from Jens Lekman's SF show at Bimbos...I love this guy, but unfortunately...I think he was tired. Having gone to his show at this same venue last Fall, I have to say--while Jens is engaging, has beautiful pipes, and a solid band---last time was better...way better. He started out in charming fashion playing air-chimes and dancing along to his songs with choreographed hand motions-...

I'm so happy...Despite the entire three to four paragraph Jens Lekman write-up that just disappeared I'm still happy for a new, classic, Jens Lekman tunes! This is the first beauty to trickle out, and I'm nothing but impressed, anxious for more, and still very, very happy! All I know right now is that I want it to be friday night at the drive-in bingo!
