Jeff Buckley resented being called a folk singer, but he made his name playing solo acoustic sets like this one on the New York coffee circuit. Sony released this live EP before his first fully produced ock album, Grace, perhaps to attract attention to the raw power of Buckley's greatest gift, his voice. These four songs certainly accomplished that end. Buckley hurdles seemingly unreachable octaves, suspends notes for what seems like minutes, and belts out his falsetto without a scintilla of restraint. That's a positive inasmuch as it allowed him to show off his considerable talent; it's a negative when it sounded like he was showing off. But his ten-minute cover of Van Morrison's "The Way Young Lovers Do" is a tour de force of strumming and scatting, and his acoustic "Eternal Life" has an electricity that is paradoxically lacking on the plugged-in album version.
I know most people already know who Jeff Buckley is and he's been an icon for years now. But I was only introduced to him in my first year of college last year. One of my teachers was playing 'Corpus Christi Carol" and the voice that came out of whatever machine he was playing it with was amazing. I thought it was a woman first, then he said thats Jeff Buckley. So i went and bought his album "l...
If your anything like me, then you know just how powerful the music of Jeff Buckley is. The death of such a great man was tragedy, however it served another purpose of bringing to light such an incredible talent. The music of Jeff Buckley is some of the only music to this day that truly moves me every time I hear it. His performance at Sin-e stands out as a true insight into the character of J...
Okay, so I'm just starting to fall in love with the music of Jeff Buckley all over again. I came into the whole Jeff Buckley game a bit late. I mean, you can't blame me for not being into him back when "Grace" was first released -- I was 12 when it was released, and wouldn't have known good music if it punched me in the throat. The first person to introduce Buckley's music to me was, believe i...
In the movie, when the guy shows up at the married girl's door and does the thing with thesigns......I always here this song in my head. Oh unattainable love...such a tragic thing...but it has been an amazing source of great art for as long as anyone can remember.PSSorry Anna...i already started this post before your anti-romance rant...you hot robot you!
We live in a on demand world...which is paradise to compulsive music sharers like me...in 10 minutes I can choose a song and instantly post if for all of the world(or at least all of the MOGOS) to hear...I will promise not to abuse my power if you promise not to abuse yours!OK...this song doesn't really get going til about the 2 minute 50sec mark...but it is well worth the wait so be patient.....
Here is a splendid version of the classic Dylan song done by Jeff Buckley from the "Live at Sin-e." This revitalized my interest of the song and reawakened a new way that the song could be viewed.
It's late for a Sunday night, past one thirty. The week starts early, and responsibilities rear up with the sun in the morning. What a perfect time to throw on Jeff Buckley's Live at Sin-e and just groove some Mojo Pin and The Way Young Lovers Do. Damn the Memphis river for swallowing this artist whole. I heard that they will be coming out with a movie about him soon. We love our tragedy don't ...

i remember reading about Jeff Buckley's untimely death in Rolling Stone. i had only heard a few songs at that point, none of which really struck a chord with me. since then, a good friend of mine has really introduced me to his music. it only took like 2 songs to really reel me in. you know how it is when you're going through something in your life and one song will speak volumes for you. I have just about everything Jeff Buckley ever released, but like an great artist with a posthumous career, more and more stuff keep appearing from his back catalog that sort of cement his infamy. After thoroughly exhausting myself on Buckley's only complete album Grace, and technically incomplete Sketches For My Sweetheart, The Drunk, I discovered his Live at Sin-é E.P., in which he does an amaz
