AMG Review of Star Trek Voyager: Caretaker
Steven McDonald
All Music GuideThis album release compiles a good part of Jay Chattaway's music for the pilot episode of Star Trek: Voyager (entitled "Caretaker") along with Jerry Goldsmith's beautiful and stately theme for the show. It's a nice album, beautifully mastered and ranging from the dynamic to the intriguing, with an interesting collection of unusual sounds mixed into the more prosaic elements. The album comes with copious notes about the music, written by Chattaway, making this an interesting package -- no quick jobs for this company, thankfully. Despite the fast and furious assembly and production of the album, it's an excellent job (the cover design and graphics could be better, but this is a minor nit-pick). A terrific addition to GNP Crescendo's Star Trek album series.
