I was excited as hell to see Jay in concert with fellow moggers David Hyman (along with his better half), and BrittanyBF. As someone who regularly recites random Jay-Z lines to people as they stare blankly back at me like an idiot, going to see Jigga was on the list of things to do before I die.
Being that Mary J. has 16 years of hits to rifle through, and Jay-Z has 12, there wasn't much time for an opening act. R&B Newcomer "The Dream" came out and did three songs, a... MORE

The first video for "You're Welcome" is an official compilation of behind the scenes concert footage. The second video is a real treat. Jay-Z drops a few lines from "Kingdom Come" that touches on George Bush, hurricane Katrina, and Barack Obama. If you want the lyrics, I've included the lyrics below. "People was poor before the hurricane came
But the down pour poured is like when Mary J sang
Everyday it rains, so everyday the pain
But ignored th... MORE

There have been rumors of Jay-Z possibly pulling out as the headliner of this year's Glastonbury festival. Jay was allegedly upset he was being pegged as the reason for low ticket registrations, and blamed for ruining the format of previous festivals.
Glastonbury organizer Michael Eavis says these reports are absolutely not true, and could have been planted by rival organizers at 02 Wireless.
Eavis said that the reports of a possible Jay-Z cancellation were "complet... MORE

Live Nation is courting Jay-Z for a truly stunning amount of money plus additional benefits. This looks like a "Madonna Deal" to the tune of $150 Million, but it also looks like so much more than what Madge agreed to. According to a report on Billboard.com:
As part of the roughly $150 million partnership, to be called Roc Nation, Live Nation would finance future start-up ventures by Jay-Z, which could include his own label, music publishing, and artist consulting and man

I am really interested in seeing people's opinion on this. 1. Reasonable Doubt "I'm smooth but deadly like a pearl- handled pistol." That has to be one of the greatest rap lyrics of all-time. I pick this one as my favorite, because there is genius on every song. The lyrics are incredible and the production is amazing. It's a flawless album. 2. The Blueprint I give this album the

Since leaving his presidential stint at Def Jam Records, everyone has been waiting to find out what company he lands with next. Would he run an established company like Columbia (at Rick Rubin's side), or would he opt to create a new roster from scratch? An anonymous source has told the New York Post that Jay is asking for crazy amounts of money for his rumored "Carter Music Group" imprint.
"He wants a label to give him $100 million for the Carter Music Group and provid... MORE

Ticket registration for the Glastonbury festival are down from 2007, and many believe it's due to the headlining act... Jay-Z. The event organizer Michael Eavis says the drop in sales are due to "middle range" headliners. Speaking from the perspective of a hip hop head I can't fathom Jay-Z being mid-range talent, but maybe things are different in the U.K. as Eavis suggested.
“We've gone for something middle range although Jay-Z is huge in America."
Jay-Z coul... MORE

A Brooklyn activist by the name of Clive Campbell is suing Jay-Z, Bruce Ratner, and Barclay's bank to the tune of $5 Billion dollars seeking slavery reparations. The three entities are linked to a 4 billion dollar Atlantic Yards project in Brooklyn. A new arena for Jay-Z's New Jersey Nets basketball team, along with 6,000 apartments are set to be constructed.
