AMG Review of Never Felt So Good

All Music GuideJames Ingram became a major artist in the '80s on the strength of his work with Quincy Jones and his duets with Patti Austin. He got plenty of urban contemporary airplay and exposure with this mid-'80s album, his last for Jones' Qwest label. It reinforced both the appeal of the urban production style (polished charts, great productions) and its problems (overly slick vocals and thematic sameness in the performances).
