Music to Make You Misty was first released in 1957 with only eight songs. Later that year came an expanded version with eight more tracks. The Collectors Choice Music's Music for Lovers Only/Music to Make You Misty CD does not include all 16 songs. They left off two original bonus tracks, "Tenderly" and "You're the One I Care For," but also "Mickey" and "It Happened in Monterey" which were LP cuts on the initial pressing. Music to Make You Misty was one of Gleason's last records before his popularity on the music charts waned. The album's highlights include "Prelude to a Kiss," "You Were Meant for Me," and "It All Depends on You." The album features two well-known instrumental soloists, Bobby Hackett (Glenn Miller's Orchestra) on trumpet and Toots Mondello (Benny Goodman Orchestra) on alto sax. Fans of Gleason's orchestral mood music will want to track down the expanded 16-track LP. Casual fans will not need much more than Collectors Choice Music's Music for Lovers Only/Music to Make You Misty.
