The result of listening to my ipod in shuffle mode - surprise! So I'm sharing my shuffle. Jack's Mannequin is a piano rock band from Orange County, California. A side project of Andrew McMahon, originally from Something Corporate, the band was formed in 2004 and released their first album in August 2005. In June of that year, McMahon was diagnosed with late stage acute lymphoblastic leukemia, but made a full recovery. His album, Everything in Transit, was received wit... MORE
Cut: Miranda Sex Garden - Evanessence wishes they (she) could sound like MSG on their best day !! Somethin’ Hot: Afghan Whigs – they are the epitome of hot to me. It’s all about the sex in his voice & in those guitars! I love this quote from Jason Ankeny: (Who else would deliver a lyric like "I got the devil in me, girl" as though it were a pickup line?) Early to Bed: Morphine – Daggumit, I lurve these guys & all this great sound without a guitar ... all about that vo... MORE
I saw Jack's Mannequin last night and they were UH-mazing!! As usual. But, unfortunately, I must start this post where the story starts... in a crowd of sweaty, squealing, whining 13-year-old girls wearing Hollister t-shirts and New Found Glory sweatshirts. Boo. That's the only bad thing about really loving a band who also seems to be the favorite band of middle schoolers the world over. Okay, so I'm exaggerating a little. A lot of the girls looked like they were maybe hig... MORE
Yes, friends. It is once again a post from me about Jack's Mannequin. Forgive me, but it is currently an obsession. This entire day was amazing for me. For one, I won the meet and greet contest. Do you realize I have never won anything before in my life? No, you don't. I lose everything I enter. To have won this was amazing in my world. I am still sitting here, pondering how it happened actually. But whether I accept it or not, it did happen, and it was amazing. But ... MORE
I've been observing the growth of my bitterness through-out half a decade..
There are many nights that I thought I knew what it meant,
but mostly i just spend time in the dark hopelessly wishing
that I will someday understand love.
It has gradually consume every part of my emotions.
I have drowned in the definition too deeply but I still don't understand it.
Music is the only way that persuade my mind to accompany the definition to its word,
this word they call love..
Being the obsessive Andrew McMahon fan that I am, I ordered pre-sale tickets to see Jack's Mannequin the second they went on sale. I couldn't help it. I was totally freaking out. Anyway, I just got an email saying that because I ordered pre-sale tickets I get a special wristband that allows me to enter the venue before the doors open to non-presale buyers!!! YAAAAAY! That means I can get way up close to the staaaaage!!!! I'm so very jump-up-and-down-excited. This'll be my ... MORE
Sorry guys, it's another fangirl(ish) blog because well, it's a Jack's Mannequin one haha. Title is because I have now seen Jack's three times. Here's the deal: last night I drove an hour to the HP Pavilion in San Jose to see Jack's Mannequin who were opening for Panic! At The Disco. Yeah. That's right. I did NOT go to see Panic! I went to see the opener, Jack's. That is really the only reason I decided to go. Seriously. I got there really late(ish) so when I went in I wa... MORE
As much as I fight to avoid labels - punk, emo-kid, elitest indie chick (okay, that one I embrace) - I find that I am very much an emo-kid. It's amazing what you learn about yourself by looking at a list of the last 10 songs you've played on your digital stereo. I listen to a lot of heartbreaking music - Her Space Holiday, the Decemberists, Something Corporate, Jack's Mannequin, the Elected, Our Lady Peace, James Blunt, all heartbreaking at one point or another, in one w... Permalink this one guys, it's for your own good I have an enormous obsession with Andrew McMahon and everything he does. Jack's Mannequin is one of these things. Andrew McMahon is the lead singer/pianist of known piano rock band/my reason for breathing Something Corporate. Jack's Mannequin is his side project/my reason for seeing and living life the way I want to. I am obsessed. So it was only natural that to describe last night's events, I keep saying "My life began." ... MORE
So this summer my friend and I decide to go to the Jack's Mannequin show in Ft. Lauderdale because I was a fan of Something Corporate and this guy's new stuff wasn't half bad. I was all psyched to go because the last concert I had been to was The Strokes up in Boston so I figured I would have a kick ass time. Well, I was wrong. At the young age of 19 I felt old compared to the crowd that surrounded me. 14 year old girls were screaming at the bands about how 'hot' they were... MORE
Alright, I know I've posted a bunch today, but oh well. Jack's Mannequin is amazing. For those of you who haven't heard this album you should really go get it. Jack's Mannequin is led by frontman Andrew McMahon of Something Corporate. He stays true to his original glory for meaningful, somewhat emo lyrics and great melodies. Somethiing Corporate fans should be highly satisfied by this album. On a side note, for all you Andrew McMahon fans who do not know, he's been... MORE
