Only scotfree could've come up with this one. All praise to him.Formed From the ashes of pioneer '60's girl group, Goldie and The Gingerbreads, Isis wanted to shed the cutesy girl group image and form a band of women. They did not play around; funk, soul, and jazzin' it like Blood,Sweat, and Tears, but with a new perspective:Straight outta NYC,with openly gay women in the band. Just a wee bit ah...
Veteran sludge-metal band, ISIS, is preparing for a few live shows in November, still celebrating their 10th anniversary of creating heavy music together. The band is trying to share the celebrations with fans and their fans are jumping at the extra opportunities to see them play live. Opening for ISIS is another veteran metal band, longtime friends and collaborators of ISIS: 27. ISIS and 2...
ISIS - The harbingers of heavy were about to release their singles "Holy Tears" and "Not In Rivers, But In Drops" soon, but unfortunately production problems with the video on the "Holy Tears" single has caused a delay and both singles will now be released in February. The songs are from Isis' 2006 album, In The Absence of Truth. The band's 10th Anniversary Of slinging sludge metal won't wait...

This is cool. All Prog Metalish and loud and tortured, and that's just the first song. Nice. Intelligent metal, not much going around these days. Yeah, I'm really enjoying this. Just downloaded all their stuff from Emusic, including the new one. Word to this.
Yeah, this is doin it for me in this lousy cold weather ass winter. Been listening to all of them here the past few weeks, but this one is ringing just a little louder than the others for some reason.
L.A. stalwarts Isis are set to release their most cohesive and challenging work yet with Wavering Radiant, due out May 5th on Ipecac Recordings.Having been on the forefront of the progressive metal scene for over a decade now, the five-piece have managed to pump out landmark records like a well-oiled machine, each one more unique [...]
So proud of everyone involved. Isis looked gorgeous and sounded great, Jahmal was killing it and how nice was it to see Al and Jesse recreate that song live. So much talent in one room.Go out and get Fist Of God. This record is gonna change the game.
The stuttering riff that opens both “Hall of the Dead” and Isis’ new album Wavering Radiant recalls the openers of the band’s two best tracks: Celestial’s title track and Oceanic’s “The Beginning and The End.” And yet, in true Isis fashion, once the riff and song itself slowly unravel, “Hall of the Dead” establishes a [...]

cheezy subject title, but i couldn't help myself. "Holy Tears", on the other hand, is serious, a little disturbing, and a beautiful music video. i'm not sure exactly how it made me feel, so i'll just call it a strange feeling. it is unique if nothing else and definitely worth watching at least once.
I went to Isis' "10th anniversary" show on their former home turf, The Middle East, in Cambridge, MA. I've been seeing them play for 7, 8 years now. This was the best show of theirs I've been to in 4 or 5 years. Just mindbogglingly amazing so that I don't know what to say. Here's what I think the set list was (please, if you were at the show and have corrections, then let me know; thanks):1 Hiv...
i love spinner.com's "full cd listening party". this week they've posted isis's wavering radiant album. love the music. not a fan of the screaming lyrics that i cant understand. nor find easily online apparently... but awesome, awesome music here. i'm kinda sad that i never heard them before. of all the albums they've got up this week it is my favorite so far. not conor oberst, not st. v...
Walking into Koko for the first time can be quite a shock. First impressions are that the venue is like Brixton Academy in miniature or an ornate version of the Birmingham Barfly. Oddly positioned, just across the road from another cult venue, The Purple Turtle (and, believe it or not, a short walk away from [...]
