(An excerpt from my new book, "Read the Music"):[On "Speak for Yourself,"] Imogen [Heap]'s cyborg[-self] seems warmer, brighter, newer than one might otherwise expect; most of “Speak”'s songs come off as lighthearted, and in fact it was many listens before I determined how dark so many of them really are. It's so easy, as a listener, to slide off these melodies and never really sense, for exam
In what must make Imogen Heap a very happy camper given her new album is out soon, some guy named Jason DeRulo sampled her epic and timeless "Hide And Seek" for his new song, and it's actually pretty good. When given the alternatives this week (seriously click that, it's dreadful), "Whatcha Say" is downright Beatles-esque.Sampling "Hide And Seek" seems pretty obvious, and really he doesn't do ...
Near the end of her gig at a sold-out Warfield Theater in San Francisco on Sunday night, headlining singer-composer-keyboardist-electrowhiz Imogen Heaps told the adoring throng that she’s on the verge of leaving the road to record a new album. (The response: Cheers, applause, regrets, etc.) She ended the set as she said she usually does: a solo voice-and-keyboard rendition of the wry love song

I am sure this topic has been mogged and blogged and discussed into the ground, but I am good at beating dead horses...so I shall post away. What is your all time #1 track if you were to make one last, ultimate mix tape? Not necessarily the best song, or your favorite song...but the one that grabs a hold of an unsuspecting ear and leaves the listener with no choice but to see what is gonna pop ...
Ok this is not my normal style of music but a friend of mine sent me this and it reminded me of Mirrormask and I decided i like this music it's really kinda weird but really really facinateing and cool So Now for somthing completely diffrent here's imogen heap with hide and seek
Saw Imogen Heap for the first time at the Electric Factory here in Philadelphia last Friday. The highlight of the evening was her solo onstage doing "Hide And Seek" (the song that introduced her music to me) with her vocoder. Absolutely gorgeous. She's not bad either - very feminine, very British (surprise to me!), very tall, very very talented.Having said that, I think she should lighten up on...
Disclaimer: My post last week had some erroneous material listed within. Apparently, my release source decided to start listing advanced orders without much forewarning. So I was left thinking those albums were coming out, when in fact, they weren't until later on. Therefore, a lot of last week's listings are actually being released this week (yesterday). I tried to recreate the list, but just ...
I am so pumped ! I'm going to see three concerts in the next week in the Philadelphia area, seeing three of my favorite artists I've never see live before.Thursday: I get to see BLEU at Milkboy Coffee in Ardmore. I'm surprised but thrilled that he's playing such a small venue. I know he'll be doing a lot of material from the L.E.O. album, Alpacas Orgling (WTF does that mean?) he did with Andy...
A "re re -post" of part of the brilliant Ronnie Scott's gig featuring Imogen Heap..i was only able to make an audio posting...and here it is again..and i'd rather it be that way .. why do we have to have video of everything anyway? in this case it (On Yer "YouTube") it only seems to lead to nasty sexist/ ageist and everythingist remarks ..instead of just responding to a sublimely beautiful p...
I'm not sure if this has made the rounds here, but it's too good to let slip by if it hasn't.I've said it before and I'll say it again: Andy Samberg is a genius... and the SNL Digital Shorts are pretty much the only reason to watch SNL these days.
I was in Istanbul, it was twilight, and it was the most beautiful thing I'd ever heard...Even though I make 'electronic' music, or at least make music with electronic devices, and love love love cool production (shoutouts to Timbaland and William Orbit and The Neptunes and Flood and Mad Professor and...) there is, of course, no better thing than to hear an unaccompanied human voice in a song. ...
Thanks to Billboard, we will be treated to an Imogen Heap concert live from New York City on December 3rd at 10/9c. If you're interested in this, I would recommend heading HERE. Words cannot express how thankful I am for this opportunity. I love Imogen & adore her new album Ellipse, but as I've mentioned before, I can hardly ever make it to any concert anywhere. You know I'll be glued to my co...
