If Elijah Wood can actually pull off playing Iggy Pop, just give him an Oscar, I say, because I honestly can’t see it happening. I do admire him for trying, but this isn’t Heath Ledger as the Joker territory (or even Hayden Christensen as Bob Dylan,...

You've got to give Iggy Pop points for effort. The former Stooge takes a big detour on his new album Preliminaires. Based on the writings of French author Michel Houellebecq, the album takes the now 62-year old punk godfather into new sonic territory. Most of the songs on the album are jazzy numbers, complete with horns. It's definitely new ground for Pop, however it just does not work out.
Iggy Pop: Open Up and Bleed is the latest in a line of biographies about the life and career of the musician often referred to as the Godfather of Punk. Author Paul Trynka traces Pop's life from childhood and teenage years as Jim Osterberg of Ann Arbor, MI, through his early work in bands like The Iguanas, to his now legendary turn as the lead singer of one of the most influential acts in al...
Because Ivlander asked for this, here it is.Say what you will, but Iggy Pop is a crooner. He's cut from the same cloth as his predeescessors - Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, Jim Morrison (who he has cited as one of his biggest influences). As much as he is known for rolling in broken glass or smearing himself with peanut butter, his real power is comanding the mike, and getting you to listen. ...

The biopic, entitled 'The Passenger', concentrates on Pop's early career with The Stooges, and is set to begin filming within six months. Yesterday I posted "Toe Jam", the latest single from Fatboy Slim's Brighton Port Authority. Today I found the band's myspace page, which offers a few more details. It turns out there's a full album in the works, including more stellar collaborations like Iggy Pop, Martha Wainwright and Ashley Beedle. Some of these songs have been circulating for awhile now, but this will be the first time ...
...Care for a little pop art with your Iggy Pop?...Back when I lived in New York, the installation artist "*Spencer Tunick*":http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spencer_Tunick took one of his infamous mass nude photos in Times Square (I worked a couple of blocks over in a building on Madison)...this was a decade and change before I'd ever hear of Britain's Banksy but I think the two are going in simil...
