This interesting live set features flutist Hubert Laws at the height of his powers and fame. Accompanied by keyboardist Bob James, guitarist Gene Bertoncini, vibraphonist Dave Friedman, bassist Ron Carter, either Freddie Waits or Billy Cobham on drums, and bassoonist Dave Miller, Laws performs a medley of Chick Corea's "Windows" and James Taylor's "Fire and Rain" (a song he virtually owned), plus a 20-minute version of Bach's "Passacaglia in C Minor." Although the latter two pieces had been recorded previously by Laws, these stretched-out versions are also worth acquiring. [At Carnegie Hall was released on an import CD in 2002.]
