When the booze and the coffee gets threatened...it's time to go!And rather than go to jail, I'd say the best alternative is to grab your git' fiddle and HOWL out that agonizin' pain that a bad woman will cause you! Have you checked the prisons in the last 100 years? How many poor souls are rotting away because they just didn't think twice about it? Howlin' Wolf may have saved more than a few li...

Memphis Days - The Definitive Edition, Vols. 1 & 2The Wolf's First Recordings For Sun Records (1951/1952)1 2After decades of Captain Beefheart, Tom Waits and Rolling Stones records, sometimes you just need to go directly to the source. And, when it comes to source material, look no further than Bear Family Records for the straight dope. For Chester Burnett, this is where it all began - in Sam P...

This is better than 2 cups of strong coffee to wake you up this morning. The unbeatable Howlin' Wolf (Chester Burnett) doing a fast-tempo boogie woogie called Just Like I Treat You. This is damn close to rock 'n' roll for a blues artist, and an absolute delight.

The Wolf has gotten a little MOG exposure of late (thank you, Ivylander), so I thought I'd share this. It's from the "Fuzzy Warbles" home demo collection (9 CDs!) released by Andy Partridge (the XTC main man). There is apparently a DJ named Alan Burston, for whom Andy recorded this promo, aping the style of Howlin' Wolf. Short and amusing!
