Toronto electro-rockers Holy Fuck are clearly banking on the continued rise of satellite radio, because they're just not gonna get that far in a broadcast world still under FCC restraints. The eight lengthy songs on their debut album are largely improvised, with two drummers (one of them, surprisingly, Glenn Milchem from the languid AAA country-rockers Blue Rodeo) and three keyboardists creating completely rhythm-oriented instrumental grooves that are introduced, percolate around for five to eight minutes with little variation, and then recede. So melody and lyricism are entirely beside the point here, but what makes LP something far more interesting than the average LCD Soundsystem knockoff is the album's thrillingly live feel. In a style of music that's mostly created by pressing buttons and manipulating touch screens, the drummer-powered, live in the studio feel of LP provides both musical excitement and textural variety missing from most similar electro-dance albums.
Having just seen both Holy Fuck and Foals at The Monolith Music Festival, I easily feel this is a much more awesome little team up than I would have believed previous to the event. Both live shows were eggsaladent! It's kinda funny seeing the various sources on the internet report this bit of news - Is it bigger news that Foals covered Holy Fuck or more interesting that Holy Fuck covered ...

It's obvious that when a bunch of punks name their band "Holy Fuck" they're not too concerned about marketability. But the name also puts you off in a different way - like you're expecting to see a bunch of young Green Day wannabes come on stage overwrought with fake suburban angst. And that's not Holy Fuck at all. The Torontonians layer electronica style keyboards on big analog bass and drum ...
I have a strange relationship with music videos. I loved them, mainly. At first, they were a novelty to be enjoyed late on Friday nights or whenever I was visiting Long Island. Once we had cable, I began consuming music videos the way I had previously consumed books, constantly, passionately, voraciously. I still remember the first time I saw "Pictures of You," "Lies" (oh, "Lies"!), even "Under...
Chills the blood and froze the mind You see it around you but never realize you do Taking a hand comforts you not if it´s real Or will you pee your pants' in the mildest images I show? Come on now... Are you afraid of a branch clawing your window? Will you be frightened of a boo in the dark? Let me laugh while you shake in fear Now let´s go, to dance with the devil in the pale .
Nervously sat momma's 40 years old boy with his expressionless face, tanning in his dark room behind his PC screen after midnight, while thinking of those arousing American Apparel colored briefs packs with a greasy tanning oil bottle in hand; when all of a sudden a flesh gashing shrill comes from outside his bedroom and kills his masturbating appetite, followed by a second of ants deafening ...
