Hem was my soundtrack for today, the album 'Funnel Cloud' more specifically. I just put it on shuffle and left it on...perfect background music, but when things quiet down and you want to listen, really listen, there is substance there to. If you like the Cowboy Junkies, or early 10,000 Maniacs, you will love this record.

First, an ad in a paper, the Village Voice. We need a singer. He wanted to play a traditional, Americana infused sound, she sent him a tape of lullabies. The only trouble, she says in a note, is I'm not a singer. Not really.He plays the tape again, you can't miss the whole truth on a second listen: this voice doesn't sing, it heals wounds and grows green grass and sets, sets just like the sun.
