Great Northern will usher in the holiday season with a hometown show tonite at West Hollywood's famed Viper Room as part of Indie 103.1's Check One Two Holiday Event!!

For those of us fortunate enough to see and hear Great Northern perform at Spaceland last night, time seemed to stand still for about an hour as the band set down a groove that at once mesmerized and intrigued the sellout crowd that gathered in our cozy little neighborhood club. The crowd was pumped; to see Great Northern perform their 10-song set in a venue this intimate amped up the anticipation of a great show, one of those "you had to be there" nights. Great Northern... Great Northern are on their way back to Los Angeles after an amazing tour! They'll be headed out again with The Comas for a long string of dates beginning in the middle of July, so get your tickets early!

Hello! Great Northern at The Independent in SF with lisbetho and Mindy. It was a GREAT show. Loud, compelling, beautiful music. And who can beat a super cute girl bassist in a hot white dress?! :) They're based in LA and mentioned that SF was better than LA, which just made me fall in love with them a little more. Suck. It's short, it's nasty, it's to the point. Nice little way to say that something is terrible, horrible, and practically worthless. Now just because you don't dig the Tom Waits album your friend is obsessed with, or you are convinced that Conor Oberst is the whiniest, most emo kid around doesn't mean you have any right to tell them their music taste sucks. it feels like Great Northern have been everywhere lately. but they are an LA band, and this is indeed LA. it's easy to assume everyone's already heard everything when you live here. all the jaded hearts that still can't get enough music running thru their veins. in case you haven't heard this band or haven't caught the other posts around Mog, I thought I'd bring you in to LA mode for a moment and share this with you. Just yesterday I was asking Scott (sometimes contributor to IAF) if he had a chance to listen to the Great Northern album yet (he writes reviews mainly), he said he had, but it didn't do anything for him right off the bat and kept moving on. I told him to go back, put the CD in an actual stereo, give it a good listen 2 or 3 more times all the way through, and then tell me what he thought then. I am awaiting his response and hopefully a proper review.
