My friend the Killbot is absolutely right ... Courage and Patience and Grit is the best Great Big Sea live album yet. Road Rage was a disappointment and the Great Big DVD & CD was OK, but more interesting for the promo videos than for the concert. This, though, is what they've been striving for ... Here's my take on the EMI/Apple "No more DRM" campaign, reported previously:
The future for EMI artists is a 256K/sec. music file at the Apple iTunes music store. Since I encode MP3s at 192K/sec., I'll be looking over the EMI signed artist list for someone "interesting." For the moment, here's an artist that will play on Ye Olde Pismo at 192K/sec., on Rounder records.
Great Big Sea is one of those hybrid bands that defy pigeon-holing. At once they're a rock band with a Celtic bent; or perhaps they're a Celtic band with a rock influence.
