I just received my wonderful Secret Santa gift from Jenny! www.mog.com/jenny(THANKS so much, Jenny! I'll post more about that in a couple of days...)But before I head off to visit family and friends I wanted to post four of my favorite Christmas songs... so two songs per post...I wanted to say Merry Christmas to Lizzie (who directed me to MOG and made me feel so welcome!) and to Dale (who organ...
That's it for me. The magic has gone. I'm leaving MOG. I will not even try to explain why; it would be a waste of time and probably wouldn't get more than a couple of comments - as usual.I cannot say I will miss you much, specially the leeches. Those I care for I can always find at Multiply.I'll most probably delete my account tomorrow.Adieu. "Wrong to say that I am giving upRight to say th...
As previously announced in my last post, I am leaving MOG. I want to thank those who took the time to comment and say good things about my 28 months here.I've decided to follow your suggestion to leave my account open, although it seems to be more like a message in a bottle in the immensity of the cybersea. But, it's also a way of keeping a little channel open; should you want to communicate...
This track is one of the songs I think you should be listening to because it is not part of the currently available Grandaddy albums . It is representative of what Grandaddy could do; sweet & sour songs - sweet melodies & sour lyrics. Grandaddy is no more but the music lives on.
Grandaddy has ceased to exist as a group. The unclassifiable band from Modesto, led by Jason Lytle has called it quits. Lytle continues touring on his own. I think Grandaddy's music will never die. It is probably the only music I never get tired of. Candid and sophisticated at the same time, with lyrics that really are out of the ordinary, the songs grow on you and stay in your head a long ...
Grandaddy - "Crystal Lake"My friend Aaron gave me a mix cd of Grandaddy a few years ago and I didn't listen to it for a long time. When I finally did, I spent the next hour kicking myself in the ass for having waited so long."Crystal Lake" is one of my favorite songs of theirs. My #1 favorite is "Miner at the Dial-A-View." They just broke up.But when they were together, they were the best band...
i know it's been said many times before, but i wish this band didn't break up. they had such a great vibe going on, and were excellent in concert. plus i had a huge crush on the lead singer... hehe. i always loved this song, just saw the video today for the first time. enjoy.
After blood, sweat, tears, and general abuse of my download program, the All Track 7 mix disc has been completed. Many thanks to all of those who contributed (Puffy, Anna, The Boy Who etc, Tybees, Keb and more), I now present the tracklist (though maybe not in the exact order of the burn)1-Janes Addiction - Mountain Song2-Nada Surf - Killians Red3-New Pornographers - These are the Fables4-Place...
GrandaddyThis may be a more obscure band for some of you who read this blog, but I don’t really consider them obscure. I used to work at a graphic design firm and they always played music really loudly over the speakers. In the summer of 2003 the album Sumday, by Grandaddy was on continuous play. I am not a long time Grandaddy fan, it wasn’t until that summer that I really even knew who they w
This is my yeah! video this week. It is "Jed's Other Poem (Beautiful Song)" by the now defunct, Grandaddy. It is off of the Sophtware Slump Lp. I guess it was programmed on a 1979 Apple with only 48K of RAM! Enjoy.
Photo Credit: Cluas Today's "Treasure From The Collector's Slum" is a very personal and very exciting download, which has been made available courtesy of Ian. You see, back in the year 2001, one week after my graduation from High School, Ian, our friend Bret and I decided we were going to see Grandaddy and Coldplay (don't say anything! Don't say anything!) at Radio City Music Hall. I had bee...
Jason Lytle, ex-Grandaddy front man has announced plans to release his debut solo LP this year. Grandaddy announced their demise before the release of their fourth studio album Just Like The Fambly Cat in 2006 but it would seem Lytle has bigger plans than just kicking back and relaxing.
Back in February we posted THIS about ex-Grandaddy front-man Jason Lytle and his newly announced solo LP 'Yours Truly, The Commuter'. Now Lytle has decided to take his music on a two-stop tour of England so if you happen to be one of the many people dying to witness the man sing his solo work live, we'd make sure you're one of the first to get tickets.
This album gets better every time I play it. It came as a recommendation at amazon, who sometimes don't disappoint. The "Customers who bought this item also bought" section listed Tom McRae, Ed Harcourt, Ben Christophers (all of whom I'm already into), and lastly - Grandaddy. It should be noted first that Grandaddy sounds nothing like these artists, though I'm grateful to amazon for their sugge...
