Grace Potter And The Nocturnals's Biography
Grace Potter and the Nocturnals is a Vermont-based band that gained national attention with sell-out tours. The band blends funky blues, gospel and rock from the sixties and early seventies.
Leading vocalist is 22-year-old Grace Potter. She plays the Hammond B3, piano and guitar. Also in the band are Scott Tournet (guitar/slide guitar), Matthew Burr (drums/percussion), and Bryan Dondero (upright bass/electric bass).
They have independently recorded and released two albums, Nothing but the Water and Original Soul. They rely on word-of-mouth, online promotion and marketing through . The band recently signed a deal with Hollywood Records (December, 2005) and re-released Nothing but the Water on May 23, 2006.
In 2005, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals were nominated for two categories at the Boston Music Awards - Best Local Female Artist and Best New Local Act. They also participated in the awards show as performers.
In 2006, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals won the Jammy for Best New Groove and were nominated for two more Boston Music Awards
