Come this November, two of the jam scene’s rising stars - Grace Potter & The Nocturnals and Brett Dennen - will join forces for a cross-country co-headlining tour. The two acts will split closing duties over the course of the 21-date trek - with Dennen holding down that slot for most of the run, while Potter & Co. will close in Boston, NYC and Philly. Both acts have also been busy in the recordi.
Last week we pointed you in the direction of a blog post made by former Grace Potter & The Nocturnals bass player Bryan Dondero where he ripped into Potter for her actions before, during and after his tenure in the band. We wanted to give an update on things that have happened since.[Photos by John Schulze]First, Dondero took the entry off of his website that same day. Perhaps he felt bad, perh...
Grace Potter and the Nocturnals have been in the news a bit lately. They lost one of their original members because of creative differences, and have since added on two additional players (Benny Yurco and Catherine Popper), and have been busily working on their next album, which was just announced: Medicine. There are no details on what tracks will be making up the playlist for that album, or a...

I have to put a disclaimer on this review right from the start: if you aren't interested in reading a semi-saccharine, completely glowing review of a performance, you may want to stop reading right now. Having walked into the Wilbur Theater last night knowing nothing about Grace Potter and her band The Nocturnals aside from their name, and walking out with a legitimate musical crush on all of ...
I posted up something last week about this concert, with my regrets about not being able to attend. Fortunately, the great tapers who post up at Archive.org have posted up the entire concert. Before you do, here's a bit of news. Once again, the band will be doing a three night stand at Higher Ground Music for New Years - December 28th, the 29th and the 31st. You can get tickets for the ni...
--- - |- I didn't get to go to this show, unfortunately. I had a paper to write, and all the usual excuses. From all accounts, it was a fantastic show, and it produced a new GPTN cover, this from Tom Petty. This is classic Grace Potter stuff - energetic, exciting and sounding fantastic as always. The second night of the festival, Grace sang with the Derek Trucks Band, on their song Key to t...
Great Woods, um Tweeter Center, nope..Comcast Center Mansfield MA. 6/24/08Ok this is a not so nice review from Tedheadone. The venue problems seemed to really affect the show in his mind...I guess it would mine too. Thunderstorms rolling through the area. Two inches of rain in the afternoon. Lightning striking the roof of Great Woods. Leaks in the roof. Bryan and Aya taking 6 1/2 hours to get...
Saw this group on Bonnaroo and I thought they were great. I started googling them and found this very spacey 60's sounding cover of the Stones classic. Grace is a cool rocker chick that plays the Hammond B3 organ and a flying V electric guitar, among other things. More live stuff and covers in the player below.
It's been 11 days since hubby and I got back from 3 amazing days at Mountain Jam.I wanted to write a review last week, but putting into words a trip back to our youth is impossible. From my Mog avatar, I obviously have a special place in my heart for the Grateful Dead - so being among a mass of humanity sharing the music, the spirit and the good karma of 'peace and love' was such a blessing.(Di...
Last week a friend who has been going through some tough times asked me if I had any plans Friday night. After a long work week (and a 4 hour trip home from a business trip) what I really wanted to say was I'm going to be busy crashing on the couch - BUT since it was the holiday season, I decided to be a friend and offer a shoulder for her to lean on.Now here's where karma came to bless me - ...
